The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, which has recently been released, has drawn fans back into the expansive and diverse world of Hyrule. This game serves as a direct sequel to the beloved The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, continuing the story a couple of years later.

While there have been changes to the gameplay and storyline, Tears of the Kingdom retains plenty of elements that will be familiar to fans of the Legend of Zelda series. One such element is the game's currency, Rupees, and the management of in-game resources. Players must ensure that they sell the most valuable items when choosing what to get rid of.

16 Apples

As of August 14, 2023, our team member Renri Seong has provided an update on the extensive array of weapons and materials that players of Tears of the Kingdom can acquire throughout their gameplay. In this regard, it is worth noting that some items are excessively abundant, presenting an opportunity for players to sell them in exchange for additional Rupees. It is important to be mindful of the considerable cost associated with armor upgrades and armor purchases, as Link's wallet can be swiftly depleted without notice. Consequently, we have revised our list to feature various items that TotK players should consider selling to the numerous merchants scattered across Hyrule.

With their plentiful supply throughout Hyrule, apples may not fetch the highest price but they make for a perfect choice to sell to merchants. These fruits are extremely easy to cultivate and can be discovered on trees, in crates, or even scattered around stables.

15 Elixirs

Players have several options for obtaining apples in the game. They can opt to chop down trees and gather all the apples at once, shoot them down using arrows, or utilize Link’s new Ultrahand ability to pluck them directly from the trees. Whichever path players choose to embark on during their adventures, they will inevitably amass a large quantity of apples with minimal effort. With each apple selling for 3 Rupees, this becomes a simple and effective method of earning some additional cash.

Selling elixirs can be a valuable strategy for Link's numerous adventures, especially when players find themselves with an excessive quantity that exceeds their needs. Through selling these elixirs, not only can players obtain additional funds but they can also free up valuable inventory space.

Different elixirs will be sold at varying prices based on the rarity of the monster parts and bugs utilized in their creation. The elixirs crafted with Lynel parts are the most costly to sell. Nevertheless, these particular elixirs possess greater potency and might be advantageous to retain.

14 Cooked Food

As players delve into the new recipe mechanic, their inventories may quickly become brimming with an abundance of cooked food and dishes, much like elixirs. In some instances, players may even indulge in consuming surplus meals to make space for those with desired effects. Nonetheless, a far more profitable avenue lies in selling the excess nourishment and prepared cuisine.

Meals will be priced differently based on their ingredients, effects, and level of complexity. It is advisable to adopt a strategic approach in selling meals to prevent players from accumulating excessive quantities of one particular type. Additionally, selling basic cooked meat can be a fantastic alternative since it only requires players to embark on a brief hunting expedition and cook the meat over a fire.

13 Flint

A notable recurring feature in Breath of the Wild is the abundant presence of mineable ore in the various mountains, caves, and underground regions of Hyrule. These valuable ore deposits are unmistakable with their gleaming obsidian-like surface and can be shattered using any blunt weapon.

One material commonly dropped from these rocks is Flint, which players require to construct a campfire. Flint can also be found near stables, along with other essential items such as wood and fruit. After even a minimal amount of adventuring, players will probably have a substantial supply of Flint and can confidently sell any surplus for 5 Rupees each.

12 Amber

Amber, found in various ore deposits across the map, as well as in chests and drops from certain enemies, can be considered another notable material. Fans of the Legend of Zelda may not immediately recognize this mineral as it appears distinct from its counterpart in Breath of the Wild. While it possesses additional functionality in fused weaponry, it remains valuable for trading purposes with merchants.

11 Opals

Finding Amber becomes easier as players advance through the game, granting them greater opportunities to obtain it. Compared to other gems, Amber is not as valuable for fusion purposes, making selling it a more secure choice. However, it is worth noting that in Breath of the Wild, Amber sells for a diminished price of 10 Rupees per item.

Opal, another valuable resource, can be discovered in Tears of the Kingdom through various methods. Similar to other precious gems, Opal can be obtained by breaking ore deposits located in specific regions of the expansive world map. Additionally, Opals can be discovered inside chests and obtained as drops from Talus adversaries of different varieties.

10 Topaz

Unlike Amber, the price of Opals in Breath of the Wild has significantly decreased, now only fetching half of its previous value. Previously sold for a higher sum, Opals can now only be sold for 30 Rupees. Nevertheless, despite the decline in value, selling Opals remains a viable method to generate income. While Opals serve a purpose in crafting, they are generally considered interchangeable for monetary gain.

In the Tears of the Kingdom, there is another gem called Topaz, which is even more valuable. Players can come across Topaz in chests, rare ore deposits, or as drops from Luminous and Rare Stone Talus enemies. These rare ore deposits can be distinguished by their distinct coloration compared to common ore deposits, and they have a higher likelihood of yielding precious gems.

Topaz is now available for a reduced price of 80 Rupees, experiencing a significant drop of 100 Rupees compared to the previous game. Players are advised to exercise extra caution while selling Topaz, considering its frequent utilization in armor upgrades and its relatively limited availability compared to other gems.

9 Rubies

Adding to the gem collection is the reintroduction of Ruby in the newest installment of the Legend of Zelda series. Rubies can be discovered in treasure chests, scarce ore deposits, and obtained as drops from various types of Talus enemies. Notably, Rubies are closely linked to the fiery element in the game, making them more abundant when defeated Igneo Talus enemies are encountered.

8 Sapphires

Because of their affinity with the fire element, Rubies hold a distinct purpose in fused weaponry. It is crucial for players to ensure that any Rubies they intend to sell are surplus. In Tears of the Kingdom, Rubies are currently valued at 110 Rupees, a decrease from the 210 Rupees they fetched in Breath of the Wild.

Unlike Rubies, Sapphire is a valuable gem in the game and is connected to the ice element. Players can discover Sapphires in chests, rare ore deposits, and they are frequently obtained as drops from Frost Talus enemies.

7 Diamonds

Sapphires possess a comparable elemental influence as Rubies when incorporated into fused weapons, but in this case, they enhance ice-type attributes. It is imperative to exercise caution and ensure that Sapphires are not required before deciding to sell them. The current selling price for Sapphires is 150 Rupees each, a decrease from the previous game's value of 260 Rupees.

Completing the compilation of highly valuable items is the Diamond, an exceptionally rare gem that can solely be discovered in specific game locations. Currently, its appearance is confirmed in just one chest within Tears of the Kingdom, and it can only be obtained as a drop from the formidable higher-level Talus enemies.

Diamonds are the only gem that maintains its selling price of 500 Rupees per item, despite their high fuse damage level. However, they do not provide any elemental advantages when used in fused weaponry. Therefore, players can confidently consider Diamonds as one of the top-selling items in the game.

6 Brightbloom Seeds

Located beneath the surface of Hyrule, The Depths is one of three maps in Tears of the Kingdom. Its pitch-black darkness poses a challenge as visibility is impossible without the aid of Brightbloom Seeds or Lightroots. Each Lightroot corresponds to a Shrine of Light on the Surface, but at times, they are scattered far apart. Consequently, Link must navigate blindly until he stumbles upon another Lightroot. This is where Brightbloom Seeds come to the rescue. By throwing, fusing, or shooting them with an arrow, Link can illuminate his surroundings.

5 Dragon Parts

Brightbloom Seeds can be found abundantly across various locations such as wells and caves on The Surface. Exploring just one cave can yield approximately 10 Brightbloom Seeds. Given that Tears of the Kingdom has a maximum item limit of 999, players may accumulate well over 100 Brightbloom Seeds even before reaching the midway point. Individually, a single Brightbloom Seed may only sell for 2 Rupees, which may seem insignificant. However, when sold in large quantities, Link can effortlessly earn 100 Rupees.

Dragon Parts consist of the Shard of Dragon Horns, Shard of Dragon Fangs, Dragon Scales, Dragon Claws, and Shard of Dragon Spikes. Each of these parts has four variants. To acquire these parts, Link must climb onto the dragon's back and shoot arrows at it. Depending on where the arrow hits, a specific Dragon Part will be obtained. Naydra, Farosh, and Dinraal follow flight paths that take them across The Surface and into The Depths. The Light Dragon, on the other hand, roams all around Hyrule, passing by numerous Skyview Towers and Geoglyphs. A cooldown period of 10 minutes applies to each dragon. Therefore, if players acquire a Scale and wish to obtain a Claw as well, they must wait for 10 minutes in real time. (Pausing the game will pause the cooldown countdown as well.)

The cooldown does not affect the Dragon Shards, which are found alongside the spines on the dragons' backs.

These shards are infrequently found and gathering them can be a tedious task. Additionally, they are essential for enhancing armor pieces like the Champion's Leathers and the Tunic of Memories. It is advised to keep hold of any Dragon Part until players have upgraded their desired armor. However, if they have surplus parts, they may consider selling them. Each Dragon Part holds significant value, with the following prices:

Dragon Fang: 250 Rupees

Dragon Horn: 300 Rupees

Dragon Claw: 180 Rupees

Dragon Scale: 150 Rupees

Dragon Shard: 30 Rupees

4 Monster Parts

Throughout Tears of the Kingdom, Monster Parts tend to accumulate. Similar to Dragon Parts, these Monster Parts are utilized in various armor upgrades. When not employed for enhancement, they serve as valuable resources for crafting Elixirs. Remarkable and formidable Monster Parts, such as the Silver Lynel Horn, prove to be exceptional for merging with weapons, significantly augmenting their offensive capabilities.

Common Monster Parts (for example Bokoblin Horn) or less valuable parts (such as Lynel Saber Horn) may be more profitable to sell. If players are concerned about potentially missing out on a potent fusion, they can arrange their Materials inventory based on Fuse Power. Alternatively, exchanging these parts for rupees is a better option than allowing them to accumulate unused in the inventory.

3 Duplicate or Unwanted Armor

In Tears of the Kingdom, there is an abundance of armor available. While certain armor sets hold more value than others, there are a few that become repetitive. Take, for instance, the Topaz Earrings, the Rubber Armor Set, and the Desert Voe Set (Bonus Set), all of which provide Shock Resistance. It is highly likely that players will not feel the need to try on every armor piece they come across in Hyrule.

sell their armor accidentally, they can acquire them again from Cece in Hateno Village. Nonetheless, to unlock this option, they must first complete the side quest "Team Cece or Team Reede?". Keep in mind that purchasing the armor can be quite costly, so it is advisable to carefully consider before deciding to sell them.

Spicy Peppers, although less common than Apples, are among the first resources that Link will come across on the Sky Islands. By cooking them, players can prepare a meal with Heat Resistance, which proves advantageous at the outset of TotK. However, as players acquire cold-resistant armor, the value of Spicy Peppers diminishes. Nevertheless, they can still be utilized for cooking purposes, appealing to some players who don't mind the temporary protection provided by a Spicy Pepper-infused dish.

One Spicy Pepper is priced at 3 Rupees. Similar to the Brightbloom Seeds, a solitary Spicy Pepper wouldn't be sufficient to buy arrows, but a small bundle of them can generate some extra cash. However, once Link obtains cold-resistant armor (i.e., the Snowquill Set), the value of hoarding the peppers may diminish.

1 Construct Parts

Similar to Monster Parts, Link will come across Construct enemies on the Sky Islands and The Surface that drop various parts. While fusing these parts into weapons is generally recommended, they can accumulate over time like any other material. Among the different types of Construct Horns, it is the Captain Construct Horns that are particularly beneficial for fusion. However, it is worth noting that Construct and Captain Horns are exclusively utilized for upgrading the Zonai Armor Set, making them less valuable when compared to materials like dragon parts.

The selling price of Construct Parts differs based on their type. A regular Soldier Construct Horn can be sold for 2 Rupees, whereas a Soldier Construct II Horn is valued at 4 Rupees. The Captain IV Construct Horn has a selling price of 30 Rupees. However, it possesses a fuse power of 35, so players should contemplate fusing it with a Zonaite weapon instead.
