In addition to a side quest, players will stumble upon a vast array of items and resources for crafting. This guide aims to provide players with insights on what to anticipate as they embark on the quest titled "Homecoming."
Please be aware that this walkthrough includes spoilers, hence players are advised to proceed with caution.
Head to Martha's Rest
After the cutscene concludes, players are free to commence their exploration of the newly unlocked area. Although the main objective is to make their way to Martha's Rest, it is quite a distance away. Players have the option to directly proceed towards the destination, but they will encounter numerous monsters along the way, allowing them to acquire additional ability points and gather materials. Additionally, an optional side quest called "What a Bird Wants" can be undertaken in this region.
However, regardless of the chosen course of action, reaching Martha's Rest is not particularly challenging. Players simply need to follow the road leading directly to the destination. Upon arrival at Martha's Rest, the convenience of fast travel will be unlocked within this area. Furthermore, a shop is present, providing players with the opportunity to replenish their supplies or purchase crafting materials, should the need arise.
Talk to Martha
Martha can be found inside the expansive edifice situated at the heart of Martha's Rest. Engaging in a conversation with her initiates a captivating cutscene. She generously imparts counsel to Jill and Clive, explicating a potential route to navigate towards Phoenix Gate. Regrettably, their path is obstructed due to an inoperable bridge. Adding to the predicament, the skilled carpenter, who possesses the ability to mend the bridge, has mysteriously disappeared in the treacherous marshlands. Consequently, this sets in motion the inaugural quest in Final Fantasy 16.
Go to Glaidemond Abbey
In order to progress the story, this particular request functions more like a mandatory main quest rather than a side quest. Stepping out of the inn, make your way down the stairs until you spot a ladder that leads further down into the murky marshes. As you descend the ladder, cross the platform until you come across another ladder. In close proximity, a group of monsters has trapped a man, who happens to be the carpenter you were tasked to locate. Engage in battle with these three formidable foes to trigger a captivating cutscene. Once the dust settles, return to Martha and deliver the joyous news of your successful endeavor.
Following a series of cutscenes, players will be required to complete another task while waiting for the bridge to be repaired. Depart from Martha's Rest and proceed west towards Sorrowise, where the Glaidemond Abbey can be found. Utilize the elevator situated on the western side of Martha's Rest in order to access the path leading to Sorrowise. Along the way, players will encounter numerous side paths offering opportunities to gather crafting materials and consumables. To the north of Glaidemond Abbey, at a dead end, a chest containing various items awaits.
When you reach Glaidemond Abbey, a cutscene will automatically trigger, revealing a somber scene. Once you've seen it, head back to Martha's Rest. If you prefer, you can choose to walk back, or you can utilize the obelisk at Martha's Rest for a faster travel option. Speak with Martha to fulfill her second request. As you exit the inn, another cutscene will play, signaling the start of the next main scenario quest. Final Fantasy 16 is currently accessible for PlayStation 5 players.
