Accessing a Bonus Stage in Sonic Superstars is fairly simple. All players have to do is collect a considerable number of rings and then pass a Star Post. When a player passes a Star Post while carrying enough rings, a portal will appear above the post, allowing them to enter the Bonus Stage. Although the exact number of rings needed is yet to be documented, it typically falls within the range of 100-150.

How the Bonus Stages Work

Once a Bonus Stage is entered, the player character will find themselves in a spin jump position, trapped within a swirling maze filled with bouncers and switches. The objective is to locate and collect a medal hidden somewhere within this rotating level. Upon finding the medal, players will be instantly transported to a new maze, where the process repeats. To receive the highest possible medal reward from the bonus stage, players need to successfully navigate and conquer three of these mazes.

Players can control their character's movement using the left stick and perform jumps by pressing the jump button. As the level constantly rotates, players must skillfully bounce their character around and make use of the stage's rotation to access different areas of the maze. Bouncers scattered throughout the maze serve as platforms that propel the character off of them, providing opportunities for gaining height and speed when utilized effectively.

Additionally, players can encounter special buttons located throughout the stage that enable them to change the direction of the maze's rotation, granting them the ability to manipulate the maze to their advantage. Furthermore, there are buttons marked "Up" and "Down" that allow players to adjust the speed at which the maze spins, providing options for increasing or decreasing its rotation speed.

Players can earn medals by completing bonus stages in Sonic Superstars, which can then be used to purchase parts for their custom avatar in the in-game shop. The game is available on multiple platforms including PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
