Genshin Impact has officially announced a new map feature that is set to be released in the upcoming major update scheduled for the second half of August. Since the introduction of the Sumeru region, HoYoverse has been expanding the world of Teyvat by adding new underground sections to the map.
These dungeon-like areas can often be confusing for players, leading to them getting lost and feeling frustrated during the exciting exploration aspect of the game. In the past few months, Genshin Impact has been making gradual improvements to the map mechanics, with version 3.4 introducing changes to the design of indoor and underground Teleport Waypoints. However, according to a recent official announcement, HoYoverse has even more plans to enhance the functionality of the in-game map.
According to an official announcement from Genshin Impact, the upcoming Fontaine update will introduce a new Multi-Layered Map feature. This feature will allow players to access more detailed information about new and unlocked regions, giving them a better understanding of their surroundings. Players will have the ability to switch between multiple layers of the map, providing a more comprehensive view. This exciting improvement has generated enthusiasm among players, as it may suggest that the upcoming Fontaine region will feature underground locations. Additionally, the announcement mentions that the developer will enhance the overall quest system experience. Following the conclusion of Genshin Impact update 3.8, players will automatically be directed to their next Commission Quest based on factors such as distance and relevance upon completing their current quest.
The upcoming major update will address one of the most frustrating issues in the game - prerequisite quests. This problem is particularly bothersome for players who return to the game after a few months of not playing. They often discover that they cannot continue with the main storyline because the game requires them to complete other objectives before participating in a specific Archon or Story Quest.
Although the current system does mention the prerequisite quests that players need to finish, it is often challenging to locate these quests in the menu or on the in-game map. However, a new feature will be introduced to efficiently guide players from one quest to another until they have completed all their quests and can catch up with Genshin Impact's main storyline.
Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
