In The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, a player has built a melee-focused mech solely used for punching.
The mech can defeat a Hinox, one of the game's colossal creatures, in a mere 40 seconds, highlighting its remarkable strength.
Although the mech's mobility is limited, it recharges its battery at a faster rate compared to other mechs and contraptions in the game.
A resourceful player in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom constructs a close-combat mech and uses it to effortlessly defeat a hapless Hinox. While most mechs in Tears of the Kingdom are equipped with cannons and other long-range weapons, this particular mech stands out as one of the first designed exclusively for hand-to-hand combat.
The Hinox, a magnificent boss from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, is widely remembered by players. These colossal creatures provided an enjoyable challenge, with players exploiting their vulnerability and being rewarded with powerful weapons upon their defeat. In The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, the Hinox returns, and the thrill of taking them down remains intact. However, this time, players have the opportunity to combine Zonai devices to create ingenious traps and weapons, allowing for even swifter victories against these enormous beasts.
The_Janeway_Effect, a Reddit user, has taken weapon building to a whole new level by creating a functional mech in Tears of the Kingdom. This powerful creation is capable of easily incapacitating a Hinox. In a posted video, the protagonist, Link, is seen piloting the mech through gloomy depths to confront the Hinox. With a mighty swing, the mech deals a massive blow, significantly reducing the monster's health. The Hinox struggles to fight back and appears confused by the situation. After approximately 40 seconds of relentless attacks, the Hinox is knocked out cold with an impressive punch.
Although The_Janeway_Effect acknowledges that this mech is not the most practical option in Tears of the Kingdom due to limited mobility caused by its arms, the design remains incredibly impressive. Its Yiga Clan metal spikes attached to each "fist" add to its visual appeal. The mech's punching mechanism involves Link jumping off and back onto the Steering Stick, but this process can cause the Stabilizer to deactivate, resulting in the mech toppling to the side. Consequently, aligning punches can prove challenging. However, as the video demonstrates, this drawback can be overcome, and the mech can still function effectively. Additionally, jumping on and off the Steering Stick accelerates the battery charging process compared to other mechs or large contraptions in the game.
This mech's design bears resemblance to the Zonai body that Link constructs for a sage in Tears of the Kingdom. However, in contrast, this mech surpasses it in power by a factor of at least ten, despite its impracticalities.
You can access The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom on the Nintendo Switch.
