How to Use the Adamantine Forge

To utilize the Adamantine Forge located deep beneath the Duergar staging area, players need to follow these steps for crafting items:

1. Place a Weapon or Armor Mould into the designated Mould Chamber.

Insert Mithral Ore into the Crucible.

Release the Lava Valve.

Pull the Forge Lever consistently until the giant hammer is released onto the Crucible. The Mould Chamber will then produce a finished item, allowing players to repeat the process. This activity can only be undertaken after defeating Grym, the formidable golem guarding the forge.

Grym is impervious to damage unless it acquires the Superheated debuff, which can be obtained by walking through lava. It is crucial to have someone monitoring the Lava Valve constantly. To defeat Grym, players can lure it onto the anvil and strike it with the hammer twice.

The Adamantine Forge presents some issues. If Grym dies and becomes stuck in the anvil, players may be unable to add more Mithral Ore into the Crucible, which would prevent them from crafting in the future. Currently, there is no known solution to move Grym out of the anvil, but a future patch may address this problem.

There is another issue involving a bug that causes a continuous flow of lava, preventing players from raising the forge. To work around this, players can save and reload the game or enter Turn-based Mode and wait for the environment to take a turn.

In order to progress, players will need to manually collect Mithral Ore and six different Moulds scattered throughout Grymforge. Ore veins can be found along the lava streams, while Moulds can be obtained by visiting specific locations on the map. Since Mithral Ore appears to be limited, players should carefully consider which items to craft for each character, unless they are able to acquire more.

Baldur's Gate 3 is available now on PC, with a PS5 version coming soon.
