In late July 2023, Pokemon GO introduced the new Routes feature, along with the limited Blaze New Trails event and the From Z to Zygarde Special Research. Completing step 3 of the research grants trainers a Zygarde encounter. However, some players are currently experiencing difficulties with Step four, which entails following three Routes to earn an Incense. This guide aims to provide more detailed instructions on how to successfully follow Routes and complete the quest. Prior to utilizing the Routes feature, it is essential to ensure that the mobile application has been updated to the latest version available on the Play Store or App Store.
How to Follow Routes in Pokemon GO
Not all Pokemon GO players currently have the ability to create their own Routes, as Niantic is gradually introducing this feature. However, some players have expressed frustration with the delayed approval process for submitted Routes, particularly affecting trainers residing in rural areas without access to nearby Routes.
To view nearby Routes in Pokemon GO, trainers should navigate to the main map screen (as shown in the above image) and tap on the bar located at the bottom-right corner that displays nearby Pokemon. This action will direct players to the Nearby screen, where they can select "Route" on the right side and then access the list of nearby Routes.
Press the Follow button to initiate the walking path, although players have the option to reverse it if they are in close proximity to the Route's conclusion. During the traversal of Routes, it is important for players to remain vigilant in their search for Zygarde Cells that can be utilized to transform Zygarde into any of its three distinct forms.
There are also some bonuses players will get while walking on a Route, which are as follows:
Earn Buddy Candy and Buddy Hearts faster
Incenses are more potent
Get XP bonuses
The task that is part of the Zygarde Special Research will finally be completed once players successfully follow three Routes from start to finish.
Pokemon GO is available on mobile devices.
