Previously, a fortunate few Mortal Kombat players were able to partake in an earlier test, and now, an even larger number of fans will have the opportunity to experience Mortal Kombat 1 prior to its official release in September.

Since its initial announcement, anticipation for Mortal Kombat 1 has reached unprecedented heights. This ambitious reboot of the Mortal Kombat timeline boasts a captivating mix of both iconic returning fighters, fresh-faced newcomers, and even some high-profile guest fighters available as DLC. While the Mortal Kombat 1 DLC lineup is set to feature Omni-Man, Homelander, and Peacemaker, it's important to note that they will not be included in the upcoming beta test.

Scheduled to run from August 18 to August 21, the Mortal Kombat 1 beta test is exclusively available to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X gamers who have pre-ordered the game. Participants in this beta test will be delighted to choose from a roster of six characters, including Liu Kang, Sub-Zero, Kenshi, Kitana, Johnny Cage, and Li Mei. Additionally, they will have the opportunity to select from four Kameo Fighters, namely Kano, Sonya, Jax, and Frost. The adrenaline-fueled battles will take place on two thrilling stages - The Teahouse and Johnny Cage's Mansion - as beta testers put their skills to the ultimate test.

Naturally, the complete release of Mortal Kombat 1 will offer a wider selection of playable characters, Kameo Fighters, and stages. The beta provides a mere glimpse of what fans can anticipate, as the full roster of the Mortal Kombat 1 base game also includes Baraka, Kung Lao, Mileena, Raiden, Rain, the iconic Scorpion, Smoke, Reiko, and Tanya. It is conceivable that even more members will be added to the Mortal Kombat 1 base game roster, although their identities remain undisclosed at the time of writing.

Pre-ordering the game will grant players access to an extra character, Shang Tsung, in addition to the August 18-21 beta test. Those who do not pre-order Mortal Kombat 1 can still purchase Shang Tsung separately. NetherRealm intends to provide long-term support for Mortal Kombat 1, so fans can anticipate regular updates and potential additional DLC beyond the initial Kombat Pack.
