Unleashing the Thrilling Updates: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone Season 5 Patch Notes Unveiled

Activision unveils the highly-anticipated Season 5 Patch Notes for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone, featuring exciting updates across global, gameplay, weapons, UI/UX, and bug fixes Prepare for intense multiplayer action and the revamped Warzone experience in this latest installment

In addition, there are smaller enhancements such as Tactical Pets, the Battle Buddy feature, and tweaks to the UI, sound, and stability.

Furthermore, the update introduces new operators, weapons, and vehicles, along with gameplay modifications including enhanced movement and weapon balancing.

The patch notes briefly mentioned some major changes, such as special events, new battle maps for both games, and unique character skins featuring real-world rappers. This continues the trend of incorporating crossover content into unexpected games. Smaller additions were also discussed, like Tactical Pets. These allow players to team up their operators with indestructible animal sidekicks who can assist with finishing moves. The Battle Buddy feature lets players equip virtual assistants who provide snarky commentary during gameplay. Only one assistant, named Gwen, was specified.

Other changes include the addition of new operators, vehicles, and weapons to play with, as well as several fresh maps, weapon rebalancing, and various adjustments to the user interface, sound, and overall stability. New features include the self-explanatory Capture the Flag mode, the power-saving Eco Mode, and various seasonal modes that rotate periodically. Notably, in-game movement has been enhanced, reducing the delay after jumping or sliding and giving players a few extra seconds to defend themselves. The complete patch notes can be found below.

New: Introducing Battle Buddy

OPERATORS

Adding to the exciting features of Modern Warfare II is the inclusion of Battle Buddy, virtual "assistants" that serve as mini-announcers with their unique personalities. Meet "Gwen," the first Battle Buddy who prefers to be called a Gun Screen, coming in a package with Arthur and his trusty K9 companion, Merlin. To make the most out of Gwen's assistance, ensure your performance is top-notch, as she's focused solely on facilitating successful missions. Expect her to call out Killstreak activations, your kills (including those with specific weapons or equipment), and other noteworthy in-game occurrences, particularly when you achieve victory or excel in a match.

Oz, when approached by General Shepherd, eagerly accepted the role as the head of a cyber defense division within a fresh PMC organization known as Shadow Company. Taking charge as their unofficial leader, Oz skillfully utilizes his specialized expertise in both ground operations and cyberwarfare.

Biographical intel for this Operator has been [[REDACTED]].

New Weapons

The Carrack .300 is a sniper rifle that combines a semi-automatic firing mechanism with a bullpup design. It boasts an impressive fire rate and is specifically engineered to provide superior handling and stability, even while in motion. This powerful weapon can be accessed by unlocking it through the Battle Pass.

Weapon Balancing

» Light Machine Guns «

The following weapon changes only apply to Warzone. Although we are generally satisfied with the weapon balance in Warzone, there is still room for improvement. Our internal data revealed that the Cronen Squall is performing excessively well, which limits the choice of viable weapons. Our primary objective with these changes is to offer a wider range of gameplay options for players at all skill levels. It is understood that not all weapons can be at the top of the charts, and that is acceptable. As long as these weapons offer a unique playstyle or fill a specific role, our goal is achieved. Below are the changes aimed at creating a more balanced playing field among top and bottom-performing assault rifles.

Lastly, we acknowledge the concerns regarding the Signal 50 in Warzone. Although our data suggests that the Signal 50's performance falls within the normal range, we equally value the experiential impact it has on Players. Presently, we perceive no need to modify the Signal 50, but we will diligently monitor both the data and your feedback.

The MRAP is a vehicle similar in size and shape to the Cargo Truck. It is specifically designed for heavy combat situations, being equipped with extra armor plating and turrets. This feature makes it a slower but highly effective vehicle for both offensive and defensive purposes. The MRAP boasts a grenade turret in the front and a machine gun turret at the back. In addition, the driver of the MRAP has the capability to launch smoke grenades.

The Dirt Bike is a fast and agile mode of transportation that allows Operators to easily evade enemies in narrow alleys, execute sharp turns with precision, and traverse any map devoid of substantial cover but with a touch of flair. The driver has the ability to perform nine distinct tricks, and can also earn bonuses for executing tricks and combinations.

At the end of each season, your skill rating (SR) and division will impact your starting point for the following season. Players from bronze through crimson I will be set back three tiers below their previous season's finishing position. For example, a player who ended season 04 in gold III will start season 05 in silver III.

These rewards include Skill Division Skins, which can be used with both CDL Male & Female Operators on both Factions. Once unlocked, these Skins can be used permanently in future Seasons and in any location you play. To acquire the 'Top 250 Competitor' Skin, players must finish a Season in the Top 250 Skill Division and remain in that Division until the end of the Season.

Starting from Season 05, players will still receive Emblems based on their highest Division achieved. However, players who reach Gold or higher will now receive a different reward each season instead of a Weapon Charm. As for Season 05, we are introducing Season Division Camos as the new reward.

Player CountAll Squad Sizes on Al Mazrah Battle Royale have had their Player counts reduced to 100, down from 150.

Ranked will remain at 150 Players until further notice.

We have recently introduced and added a few second-chance mechanics to the game, but we have been cautious to not overdo it and make the mid-game feel too crowded and lengthy. However, in Season 05, we are increasing the presence of these second-chance mechanics (Gulag Kit, Redeploy Pack, Reinforcement Flare, and Reduced buy-back prices) so that players have more opportunities to return to the Warzone. Additionally, we are reducing the number of players in our core Battle Royale modes to create a better balance between chaos and improved matchmaking times, faster pre-game lobbies, and overall better match quality. These changes, along with faster circle movement, will make Battle Royale matches more fast-paced and engaging!

Rest assured, we will closely monitor feedback and data to ensure that the pacing of engagement remains healthy and that players can still strive for personal achievements. However, please note that these modifications will not be applied to Warzone Ranked Play at this time due to restrictions on second life mechanics in that mode.
