Discovering the Karahatag Shrine in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the KingdomExploring the vast world of Hyrule in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom can be an exciting and rewarding experience. Along with the return of traditional dungeons, the game also features Shrines that offer unique challenges and rewards. If you're looking to take a break from the main story, finding and completing the Karahatag Shrine is a great option.
There is an abundance of shrines scattered throughout the game, with more than 150 to be exact. These shrines serve as a crucial tool for players to increase their health and stamina, making the time spent on them highly valuable. Nonetheless, some shrines pose a greater challenge than others, requiring players to progress further into the story before being able to access them. The Karahatag Shrine is a prime example of this.
How to Get to the Karahatag Shrine
To access the Karahatag Shrine in Tears of the Kingdom, players must first make their way to the Gerudo Desert. The shrine's coordinates are -3714, -3618, 0044, but getting there is no easy feat. Players must first complete the Lightning Temple, as the entire region is engulfed in a relentless sandstorm that makes navigating the desert nearly impossible. Once the sandstorm subsides, however, the shrine becomes much easier to locate.
Karahatag Shrine Walkthrough
After accessing the fast travel point in front of the shrine, players can enter and find a small fire with a torch on the ground at the beginning of the shrine. By lighting the torch and throwing it at the bottom of the floating platform on the left, the gate will open. Alternatively, players can solve the puzzle by shooting an arrow with a Fire Fruit attached or skip it altogether by using Ascend on the floating platform and jumping over the gate.
Upon entering the following room, proceed to climb the ladder. Upon reaching the top, head towards the central platform and take a moment to look down. Glide down using the paraglider to reach the alcove on the right where you will find a chest. Within it lies a Construct Bow. After acquiring the bow, use Ascend to return to the top of the platform.
As players progress, they will encounter three identical floating platforms to the ones in the previous room. The only difference is that these platforms do not have a bottom part that can be lit with fire. However, there is a switch on the ground that players can stand on to reveal a spot on the platforms that can be ignited. The catch is that players must remain on the switch to keep the ignitable part of the platforms accessible.
To solve the puzzle, utilize Ultrahand to clutch the small pillar with the flame. Then, transport it towards the first floating platform on the left and insert it into the corresponding hole. After that, return to the switch and activate Recall while still standing on it to illuminate the platform.
The lit platforms will retain their state, ensuring that players don't lose any progress even after stepping off the switch. Additionally, the aforementioned steps can be replicated on the remaining two floating platforms. Once all three platforms are illuminated, the altar's door will unlock.
