Pokemon GO players are in for a delight this Halloween season as the popular mobile game will host various events throughout October. Apart from the October Community Day featuring Timburr, players can also enjoy the Harvest Festival and Halloween Events. The Harvest Festival event kicks off the festivities, offering the chance to encounter and capture the new Gen 9 Pokemon, Smoliv, as well as its evolutions Dolliv and Arboliva, including their rare shiny variants.
Shiny Pokemon are highly sought-after by Pokemon GO players, and in-game events often provide better odds of encountering them for dedicated players. The appeal of shinies lies in their rarity and unique color variations compared to their regular counterparts. While some Pokemon have more distinguishable shiny forms, others may have colors that closely resemble their normal appearance, which may not appeal to all players. However, Smoliv boasts a distinctive and cleverly designed shiny variant, making it a must-have for players during the Harvest Festival event.
Shiny Smoliv Differences Explained
Smoliv is a Grass/Normal-type critter that resembles an olive. Its body has a light green color, with a greenish-yellow olive on its head. The olive is similar to the Manzanilla olive in color and shape, but it could also be based on the Picholine or Cerignola olive. When Smoliv evolves into Dolliv, it keeps the same olive coloring but now has two olives. As it further evolves into Arboliva, the olives change to a purple color similar to the Kalamata olive.
In its shiny form, Smoliv's olive changes from green to black, resembling ripe olives commonly found canned or on pizza. This is a playful nod to the variety of olives available. The shiny variant of both Dolliv and Arboliva also feature black olives, despite their different olive colors in their regular forms.
The shiny form of Smoliv undergoes a subtle change in body color, taking on a greenish-yellow hue resembling its olive counterpart. Similarly, Dolliv and Arboliva's shiny forms only exhibit a slight darkening of green compared to their regular forms. Despite these minor alterations, the noticeable contrast in olive color between the regular and shiny variants makes Smoliv and its evolutions stand out among other shiny creatures, making them highly desirable additions to any shiny hunter's Pokemon GO collection.
In addition to Smoliv, there are several other Pokemon that will have an increased chance of appearing as shiny during the Harvest Festival event in Pokemon GO. This includes Bellsprout, Exeggcute, Petilil, and Cottonee. Furthermore, the different variations of Burmy will be obtainable through Field Research tasks during this event, with each variant also having an elevated likelihood of being shiny. With the introduction of Smoliv and its evolutions, coupled with the augmented chances of encountering shiny forms of various Pokemon, players have numerous reasons to partake in Pokemon GO's Harvest Festival event, which commences on October 12 and extends until October 17.
