Pokemon GO's recent Riolu Hatch Day event has garnered criticism from players, who expressed their disappointment with Niantic's choices. The event, which was only available for a limited time, involved players hatching eggs within a specific three-hour timeframe. Unfortunately, this caused technical difficulties for certain players.
Niantic's emphasis on daytime-only events has frustrated fans who are unable to participate in nighttime raids due to their work schedules. The recent Riolu Hatch Day event, aimed at sparking interest in Pokemon GO, received a lukewarm response from players, resulting in complaints from AR game enthusiasts. This event's mixed reception adds to the ongoing dissatisfaction among Pokemon GO players regarding Niantic's choices for the game in recent months.
Pokemon GO's Riolu Hatch Day event was the latest addition to Niantic's AR game, offering players the opportunity to hatch eggs and discover both normal and shiny versions of the Emanation Pokemon. Throughout the event, players had an increased chance of hatching Riolu from 2 km Eggs and could also complete themed Field Research tasks. However, the event had a limited time window, running from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. in players' local time.
Following the conclusion of the Riolu Hatch Day event, some dissatisfied Pokemon GO fans expressed their frustration online. On the r/pokemongo subreddit, a post titled "Thanks for hatch day, Niantic..." sarcastically highlighted technical difficulties encountered by Reddit user Ditronus while attempting to hatch their Pokemon GO eggs during the event. Ditronus claimed that the game's GPS tracking failed to accurately record their movement, resulting in no eggs hatching despite covering a distance of 23 miles in the three-hour duration. Some responses to Ditronus' claims raised doubts, suggesting that covering such a substantial distance on foot in three hours would require Olympic-level athleticism.
Another Redditor criticized Niantic for continually focusing on daytime-only, time-limited events. OptimusPam, a Redditor who works the overnight shift at a hospital, expressed frustration with the mid-afternoon events, stating that they always have to sleep for work during that time. Despite being a dedicated player since the game's launch, OptimusPam feels disappointed by the absence of nighttime raids for players to participate in. This sentiment, shared by other nocturnal fans of Niantic's game, concludes the post with the plea that "Night owls deserve to have fun playing too!"
With the Riolu Hatch Day receiving backlash from players shortly after it ended, it is evident that Niantic's recent Pokemon GO event did not go as planned. It will be intriguing to see how Niantic responds and what measures they have in store to prevent players from permanently leaving the game.
