The Phalar Aluve is a visually stunning sword found in Baldur's Gate 3. With its elegant design and intricate runes, it is truly a sight to behold. However, its beauty is not its only attribute. This weapon boasts impressive damage and offers valuable utility to the entire team, making it a highly versatile choice for various character classes.
Obtaining the Phalar Aluve in Baldur's Gate 3 doesn't require significant progress in the campaign. It can be acquired during Act One, albeit slightly later in the proper sequence of events. However, it is easy to overlook, so to ensure you don't miss out on this exquisite sword, here is a comprehensive guide detailing where and how to obtain it.
Baldur's Gate 3: Phalar Aluve Location
The Phalar Aluve, a unique sword, is found in the Underdark, specifically near the Selunite Outpost in the upper tunnels. Players descending from the Defiled Temple will easily locate this weapon.
Upon reaching the front steps of the abandoned outpost, proceed west towards a looping incline. The party will spot the sword from a distance due to its gleaming blade.
Now, there are several methods to successfully retrieve the sword from its dormant state. In the event that players have a Cleric of Eilistraee accompanying them, it is strongly recommended that they assume the responsibility of extracting the weapon from its stony confines. The intervention of said cleric eradicates the need to undergo any proficiency examinations or engage in supplementary actions. Furthermore, it is worth noting that the inscription on the sword can also be deciphered by Drows, rendering them exceptionally suitable candidates for this endeavor.
If there are no Drow or Eilistraee Clerics in the party, the member with the highest Strength skill should be chosen to try and pull the sword out. They must succeed a Strength check with a difficulty class of 15. If this is not an option, a character with Religious knowledge should perform the proper ritual to free the blade.
The Phalar Aluve is a magical longsword that is a +1 and deals 1d10 Slashing damage when wielded with both hands (1d8 with one hand). It also provides a +1 bonus to attack rolls and Performance checks. Its main feature, however, is its ability to cast either Shriek or Sing. Shriek debuffs all enemies within a six-meter radius, decreasing their Charisma, Intelligence, and Wisdom Saving Throws while dealing 1-4 extra Thunder damage for five turns. On the other hand, Sing buffs allies, granting them bonuses to the same stats and a 1d4 bonus to attack rolls.
Baldur's Gate 3 is available now on PC with a PS5 version coming soon.
