Pokemon GO Fest 2023 is set to take place in New York City this weekend (concluding on August 20th), featuring the arrival of Mega Rayquaza in Raid battles across the bustling Big Apple. While all players can engage in battles against Rayquaza, only those who have purchased event tickets will have access to Mega Energy required for its evolution.
Yet, before Pokemon GO enthusiasts can unleash the power of Mega Evolved Rayquaza, they must first instruct this legendary Gen 3 Pokemon with a unique move called Dragon Ascent.
How to Teach Rayquaza Dragon Ascent in Pokemon GO
Currently, to obtain Rayquaza Dragon Ascent, the only option is to acquire a ticket for the New York City event and fulfill specific Special Research tasks. Completing these tasks will grant trainers the Meteorite item, which can be given to Rayquaza, enabling it to learn Dragon Ascent—a crucial skill required for its Mega Evolution.
For players who do not possess a ticket for the aforementioned event, patience is required until Pokemon GO Fest 2023: Global, set to occur on August 26 and August 27. Rayquaza raids will be available on that Sunday.
The Special Research for obtaining Meteorites is called GO Fest 2023: New York City Sights. Trainers will receive a Meteorite upon finishing Step 3 of the research and another one upon completing Step 5.
Regardless of whether players acquire a ticket for the Global event or not, they can still accomplish tasks through a brief Special Research narrative to obtain a single Meteorite.
However, those that do pay for a ticket will get even more chances to get the rare item, as well as other exclusive rewards.
Mega Diancie, a legendary Pokemon, was introduced to the public recently at the Pokemon GO Fest gatherings in London and Osaka. Ticket holders for the upcoming global festival will have the opportunity to embark on a special research quest centered around this unique Pokemon, ultimately leading them to an exciting encounter with it. Players can access Pokemon GO on their mobile devices.
