Highlights
Destiny 2's Titans need updates to their melee-specific Exotic armor, as they currently leave much to be desired and are easily replicated with current buildcrafting tools.
The Arbor Warden Exotic armor piece could have a more significant impact if combined with other Exotics that enhance Titan barricades.
Previously acclaimed as one of the top Titan Exotics, the Heart of Inmost Light chest piece has diminished in value due to significant nerfs. Armor Charge mods now replicate most of its functionality.
Destiny 2 is constantly evolving and adjusting the meta and overall sandbox, which includes the game's top-tier Exotic armor. Players anticipate significant balancing changes with the release of Destiny 2's next major expansion, and Titans have several deserving candidates for an update.
Titans in Destiny 2 specialize in melee combat, but some of the Exotic Titan armor designed for this purpose falls short of expectations. Additionally, there are a few other pieces that could benefit from a rework, ideally allowing players to wear these Exotic armor pieces when diving into The Final Shape expansion.
Exotic Titan Armor Pieces That Deserve an Update in Destiny 2
An Insurmountable Skullfort
The Arbor Warden Exotic helmet's main purpose is to replenish health when you achieve Arc melee kills. However, the Knockout Fragment for the Arc 3.0 subclass already accomplishes this. Additionally, there are several Armor Charge mods that also provide the benefit of restoring melee energy. While the Arbor Warden Exotic remains functional, its value as a unique Exotic has diminished due to the ease of replicating its perks using Destiny 2's current buildcrafting tools.
The impact of this armor is truly distinct, but it seems that this Exotic could have a greater influence if its utility was transformed into a Fragment or Aspect for the Titan 3.0 Subclasses. The ability to deploy barriers from afar is a fascinating idea, but it could be significantly more advantageous if players had the ability to combine it with other Exotics that impact Titan barricades, such as Citan's Ramparts and Hoarfrost-Z.
Revised: The significance of this armor is truly unique, but it would have a greater impact if its functionality was incorporated as a Fragment or Aspect for the Titan 3.0 Subclasses. Utilizing barriers from a distance is a compelling idea, although it would be more valuable if players could pair it with other Exotics affecting Titan barricades, like Citan's Ramparts and Hoarfrost-Z.
This Exotic chest piece, known as the Mask of the Quiet One, used to be highly regarded as one of the top choices for Titan Exotics across all Light and Dark subclasses. However, it has since been significantly nerfed and now Destiny 2's Armor Charge mods can fulfill most of its intended purposes. While these mods cannot replicate the increased ability damage provided by the Exotic, the optimal timing required to fully capitalize on this damage boost often restricts players to a less practical playstyle.
The health gained from kills with this Exotic does not contribute to the Guardian's primary defense, which is their shielding. While this Exotic is still highly effective when used passively, players may need to consider other means of healing themselves to fully optimize its potential. However, modifying this Exotic to include a period of both health and shield regeneration could greatly enhance its usefulness. Despite this, there are numerous other Exotics available that do not require additional investments and are immediately ready for use.
This Exotic could greatly benefit from a substantial revamp, as it shares many similarities with other melee-focused Exotics that synergize well with the Arc subclass. While An Insurmountable Skullfort could also use some adjustments, it remains a superior Exotic to use. Currently, this Exotic lacks significant damage output, and its main value lies in the restoration of melee ability energy upon securing Thunderclap kills, a feature that can be easily replicated with armor modifications.
It would be logical for Titans, the melee-focused class in Destiny 2, to have Exotic gear that enhances finisher kills. While this idea is strong, the effectiveness of this gear could be further improved by increasing the damage output. This would align it better with other Exotic gear options for Titan builds that center around melee attacks and are known to be overpowered due to their excessive damage.
Destiny 2 can be played on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
