One Piece Warriors 4 is receiving an exciting expansion three years after its initial launch. This upcoming DLC, named "The Battle of Onigashima Pack," will introduce a grand total of nine new characters. With this expansion, fans can look forward to a well-executed depiction of the events from the Wano arc, which concluded recently in both the manga and anime.
One Piece Warriors 4 will receive a second round of DLC, introducing a total of nine new characters. This year's "One Piece Day" event, held on July 22, featured several exciting announcements related to the One Piece franchise, including the trailer for the live-action Netflix show and DLC for the aforementioned video game.
Originally launched worldwide on March 27, 2020, One Piece Warriors 4 is a spin-off game reminiscent of Dynasty Warriors. Similar to previous titles in the series, players can engage in epic battles against hordes of enemies while assuming the roles of their favorite One Piece characters. The game launched with 43 characters and later added nine more. At its release, it adapted the ongoing Wano arc but had to create its own conclusion due to the arc's continuation. With the conclusion of the Wano arc in 2022, it appears that the upcoming DLC for One Piece Warriors 4 aims to accurately depict its events.
The latest trailer from Bandai Namco showcases scenes from the One Piece manga in One Piece Warriors 4's in-game engine. It starts by featuring Luffy in his outfit during the arc, then quickly reveals his powerful trump card: Gear Fifth. This transformation is a result of awakening the true power of his devil fruit, amplifying his elasticity powers.
The DLC lineup is titled "The Battle of Onigashima Pack" and includes Onigashima Battle Luffy with Gear Fifth transformation, along with two other undisclosed characters. Each pack contains three characters. Players who purchase these character passes will also receive the Onigashima Battle costume for Trafalgar D. Water Law. Though the full lineup is unknown, one of the silhouettes seems to suggest the addition of Uta. Yamato, a popular character from the Wano arc, is also a likely inclusion.
It is unusual for a game that has been released for three years to receive such significant support after a period of no support at all. However, considering that the Wano arc concluded in the manga last year and the anime is also wrapping up its adaptation of these events, there is high anticipation for the episode that will showcase Gear Fifth. It is possible that Bandai Namco chose to enhance the accuracy of the existing game that already covered this arc, rather than releasing a fifth game solely to rectify the ending.
One Piece Warriors 4 is currently accessible on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
