One Piece's latest manga chapters have taken fans on a thrilling roller-coaster ride full of ups and downs. Fans are eagerly awaiting answers to burning questions, such as what happened at Egghead Island and Reverie at Mary Geoise, as well as how Sabo managed to escape from an island that was erased from the face of the Earth. Eiichiro Oda never fails to surprise fans with his storytelling style, which is known for excellent foreshadowing and building up to satisfying climaxes without any missteps.
However, Oda sometimes underestimates the intelligence of One Piece fans. Fans have a knack for predicting what will happen in the story arc, as well as the future of One Piece's story. They've come up with many fan theories regarding the plot of One Piece, but some are more plausible and concrete than others. One of these theories is the Red Line theory, which has the highest chance of being true as the story progresses.
The Red Line Theory
This popular One Piece fan theory gained traction in 2017 on platforms like Reddit and YouTube. It suggests that the ultimate endgame of the series involves the destruction of the Red Line, a massive continent that serves as a barrier dividing the single Blue Sea into four distinct seas: East Blue, West Blue, South Blue, and North Blue. The Red Line extends deep into the ocean, reaching all the way to the ocean floor. According to the theory, destroying the Red Line would solve a number of problems and fulfill the ambitions of several key characters.
For instance, Sanji would finally be able to locate the All Blue once the Red Line is gone, as it has been a long-standing dream of his to find this legendary ocean. Additionally, the destruction of the Red Line would allow Brook to reunite with his old friend Laboon, while Frankie would become the shipwright of a vessel that has traversed the entire globe. The fall of the Red Line would also spell the end for Mary Geoise, and with it, the authority of the Celestial Dragons. This would pave the way for Fishman Island to rise to the surface, potentially fulfilling Madame Sharly's prophetic vision. Furthermore, Nami would be able to complete her world map with the removal of the Red Line.
For Luffy, the destruction of the Red Line represents the ultimate goal in his quest to become the Pirate King. For him, achieving this title means being the person with the most freedom in the world. The Red Line, however, represents a major obstacle to this freedom, as it serves as a border that restricts where one can go. By destroying the Red Line, not only would Luffy achieve his goal, but the entire world would become freer as well. With the removal of this barrier and the reunification of the Blue Sea, the world would truly become One Piece, bringing the story full circle.
Possible Challenges To the Theory
The theory surrounding Gol D. Roger's treasure has evolved since 2017, originally speculating that it was one of the ancient weapons, possibly Pluton or Uranus, which could be used to destroy the Red Line. However, recent developments in One Piece's storyline have modified this part of the theory. At the end of the Wano Country Arc, Oda revealed that Pluton is buried deep under Wano and to release it, Wano's borders must be destroyed, opening the country to the world.
Despite its intriguing nature, the theory faces challenges in the form of questions such as why Roger did not destroy the Red Line himself or with the help of his crew. The answer is quite clear: Roger knew that the time was not right. He revealed this himself when he and his crew found Joy Boy's treasure on Laugh Tale and that there was still time in return of Joy Boy.
A major hurdle to the feasibility of this theory is the question of how Fishman Island could resurface after the destruction of the Red Line. According to the theory, Princess Shirahoshi, the ancient weapon Poseidon, possesses the power to command all sea kings. After the destruction of the Red Line, she would use her power to command the sea kings to pull the Noah, a massive ship carrying the inhabitants of Fishman Island, to the surface. However, this theory remains unconfirmed for now and can only be validated as the One Piece story progresses towards its conclusion, which only the brilliant mind of Eiichiro Oda knows for now.
