Bidding farewell to their beloved television companions. While numerous TV shows showcase endearing animals in their episodes, only a handful have aired heart-wrenching scenes following the demise of these creatures.

In May 2022, dog trainer Christine Mahaney took to Instagram to announce the unfortunate passing of the TV dalmatian in the final episode of season 10 of "Chicago Fire". "It deeply saddens me to inform you that Tuesday passed away on Sunday, May 22, due to unforeseen kidney complications. The incredible outpouring of love from Tuesday's fans during the past 4 years has been overwhelming."

The founder of WhatADog expressed in her post the sentiment that welcoming Tuesday into your homes and hearts will always hold a special place. Tuesday enjoyed working on set and being a part of the Chicago Fire family, with her tail constantly wagging. She was undeniably a remarkable dog.

Although Tuesday made her final appearance as the firehouse dog on the NBC drama later that month, the show did not immediately reveal their plans for addressing her passing in the upcoming season.

The Netflix series, Fuller House, aired new episodes from 2016 to 2020. During this time, they experienced the unfortunate loss of their beloved dog, Cosmo, in December 2019. A statement shared on Twitter expressed their sadness, stating that Cosmo, who had been a part of their set since he was a puppy, passed away due to complications from surgery. The series expressed their everlasting fondness for him, acknowledging that there could never be another dog like him.

The golden retriever featured in the revival was confirmed to be the great-grandson of Comet, the original Tanner family dog on Full House. Candace Cameron Bure, who played D.J. Tanner in both series, expressed her sadness on Instagram after learning of Cosmo's passing. She imagined him playing with Comet in doggy heaven and mentioned that Cosmo had been a part of Fuller House since the beginning. The cast is heartbroken by his death during surgery complications and will miss him dearly.

Content: Other shows, such as Grey’s Anatomy and Marvel's WandaVision, have incorporated the loss of pets as a central storyline.

WandaVision, the Emmy-nominated Disney+ miniseries featuring Elizabeth Olsen in the role of Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, premiered in January 2021. The series commenced with Wanda, still grappling with the death of Vision in Avengers: Endgame, creating an imaginary town where she could reside with a fabricated version of Paul Bettany's character and their twin sons, Tommy and Billy. This captivating family also assumed the roles of devoted puppy parents to Sparky after the boys discovered him wandering in the Westview neighborhood. Ultimately, it was revealed that Sparky had met with an unfortunate accident before his demise, with Agnes (Kathryn Hahn) claiming to have discovered the pup lying in her azalea bushes.

Agnes was unveiled as the infamous Salem witch Agatha Harkness, shedding light on Sparky's sudden vanishing. The revelation made Agatha the primary enigma on the show.

In her theme song titled "Agatha All Along," the actress from "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" melodiously confessed, "Who's been responsible for all the turmoil? It's been Agatha all along!" The catchy tune concluded with a startling admission: "And I even took the life of Sparky!"

Doc, ‘Grey’s Anatomy’

In order to deal with the end of her relationship with Derek (Patrick Dempsey), surgical resident Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) welcomed energetic dog, Doc, into her life. Despite the fact that roommates Izzy and George were not fond of the dog due to his habit of chewing their possessions, Doc eventually moved in with Derek and his then-wife Addison (Kate Walsh) in their trailer in the woods. Nevertheless, Meredith continued to co-parent the dog conscientiously until he was diagnosed with bone cancer, ultimately leading them to make the heartbreaking decision to euthanize him during the second season. Since Doc's passing, Meredith has made numerous tributes to him in episodes of both the third and fifteenth seasons.

Isis, ‘Downton Abbey’

In the historical drama, Hugh Bonneville portrayed the character Robert Crawley, who took great pride in being a devoted owner to his dog named Isis. However, as season 5 unfolded, it was revealed that this beloved companion had been diagnosed with cancer and her health was rapidly declining.

"We always attempt to manipulate time in Downton as a detailed analysis would drive one insane," Bonneville revealed to The Sun in February 2019. "This is why we made the decision to remove the dog – after someone meticulously calculated the ages of all the characters based on a 1912 starting point." Bonneville continued, "By the time we reached series six, the dog should have been deceased. So, I suggested, 'Wouldn't it be amusing to kill off the dog?' After all, during this era, most British men are more emotionally attached to their dogs than their own children. It would certainly evoke tears from dog lovers watching at home."
