A recent leak regarding Genshin Impact has shed light on a new character set to make an appearance in the upcoming Fontaine region. For many players, the anticipation of a major new region has been a highlight since the game's launch in 2020. In keeping with a tradition established by HoYoverse, Genshin Impact has been introducing one major nation per year to its world. Following the arrival of Sumeru in August 2022, the next region is now due to become available for exploration. During a recent live stream event, the game unveiled a teaser video that featured the Traveler diving, a gameplay mechanic not currently available in the game.
A new character has been leaked by a credible Genshin Impact leaker named Hoyoverse_Leak, who will reportedly play a significant role in the upcoming Fontaine storyline. This character is said to be connected to Fontaine's navy, and there are allegedly five more NPC models associated with the region's naval power. Given that Fontaine is known as the Hydro region, players have been anticipating its water-based features such as lakes, rivers, and waterfalls. Some fans believe that Fontaine will have a design similar to Liyue, which is mostly covered in deserts. Players speculate that the new character may have a role similar to Beidou, who is a four-star Electro user and the captain of The Crux, a formidable armed fleet located in Liyue Harbor. She is also known for her boldness towards Liyue Qixing, the governing body of the Geo nation.
Fans are eagerly speculating about the elemental powers of this enigmatic character, but information remains scarce. Many are hoping that she will possess the Geo element, as it has been over 500 days since the introduction of the last Geo character, Yunjin, in update 2.4. Some fans have pointed to her blonde hair and orange outfit as possible clues to her element, but others caution against making assumptions based on appearance alone. This was the case with Kazuha, a popular support character whose design led many to believe he would be a Pyro user, but was later revealed to be Anemo. With update 4.0 set to introduce three other characters, players may have to wait a while before this mysterious character finally joins the roster.
Genshin Impact is available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5, and a Switch port is also in development.
