Amidst the SAG-AFTRA strike, the rewatch podcast "Drama Queens" hosted by the women of One Tree Hill will persist. Sophia Bush, Hilarie Burton Morgan, and Bethany Joy Lenz took the opportunity in their iHeartMedia podcast episode on Monday, July 24, to urge fans to refrain from streaming the show and instead switch to DVD box sets.
"Now, we are well acquainted with challenging imbalances and instances of power abuse — as it forms the fundamental core of our podcast," stated Burton Morgan, aged 41, as she addressed the impact of the strike on the podcast in the episode's introduction. "Hence, we are reclaiming a truly significant phase in our lives."
Bush, aged 41, elaborated on their ongoing discussions with multiple union representatives to determine the feasibility of podcast continuation. While actors typically cannot endorse previous or ongoing projects, podcasters are contractually bound to continue recording, thereby placing them in a somewhat ambiguous position.

"We fully support both the strike and the writer's strike. We have personally reached out to multiple representatives and have made sure our teams have done the same in order to maintain open lines of communication," shared the actress, known for her role as Brooke Davis on the teen drama, who played the character for nine seasons.
Lenz, who portrayed Haley James Scott on the show and is 42 years old, added, "Currently, we have received permission to honor our iHeart contract. However, we are approaching this trip down memory lane in a nostalgic manner and encourage you to do the same. Take out those DVDs, alright? We have signed thousands of box sets, so we know you have them. Gather with friends and host watch parties, just like we used to back in the day."
Burton Morgan, known for portraying Peyton Sawyer on the CW hit series for six seasons, has announced an exciting new podcast initiative. The podcast will shine a spotlight on fans who prefer physical media over streaming. Expressing gratitude towards the supportive and proactive community, the former MTV VJ stated that this moment is no exception. He urged fans to share their photos with their box sets, using the hashtags #SAGAFTRAStrong and #WGAStrong, and assured them that their pictures would be featured on the podcast's social media feed.

Bush concluded by expressing gratitude to the fans of One Tree Hill for their support of the artists who create the show. She also urged people to consider donating to the Entertainment Community Fund. Additionally, Bush acknowledged the role of SAG-AFTRA representatives in guiding them through this complex situation and expressed pride in being union members. Revenue sharing and viewing data transparency have been major issues during the ongoing SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes. Negotiations between both unions and the AMPTP have been challenging due to concerns regarding artificial intelligence, residuals, and other related matters.
