The Pale Elf quest chain is an extensive series of tasks that spans multiple acts. To progress to this stage, players must successfully navigate through all the steps outlined in Act 1 and Act 2. These steps include refraining from banishing or causing harm to Astarion when he attempts to consume the avatar's blood.

He will eventually disclose to the players that he is enslaved by a vampire known as Cazador, and the Illithid tadpole is the sole factor preventing him from being compelled to follow his master's commands.

Take him to the small encampment located south of Auntie's Teahouse, locate the monster hunter, and this will initiate a scene involving him. He firmly believes that it was Cazador who hired the monster hunter.

Wait for a night-time cutscene that shows the player and Astarion interacting. Astarion will be seen attempting to decipher the scars on his back using his fingers. Initiate a conversation with him regarding this matter and suggest trying to read or visualize the scars in the dirt. Eventually, Astarion will come to the realization that the scars are actually inscribed in infernal script. He then requests the player to include him in the next meeting with Rafael, so that he can seek Rafael's assistance in understanding the scars.

In exchange for slaying an infernal creature within the Mausoleum during Act 2, Rafael agrees to read the text for Astarion.

When Astarion discovers Cazador's intentions, he requests players to escort him to Baldur's Gate. Regardless of the player's romantic interests towards this BG3 companion, Astarion is determined to eliminate Cazador. However, to track down his whereabouts, Astarion seeks the player's assistance in locating one of his "sibling" vampire spawn slaves.

Therefore, it is advisable to begin searching for them in Wyrm's Crossing. There are two siblings situated in the Flophouse directly across the street from Sharess' Caress, close to the entrance of Wyrm's Crossing. This location can be found on the western side of the street.
