In Genshin Impact's version 3.8 update, players can explore the new limited-time event area called Veluriyam Mirage. Inspired by theme parks, this area offers a lighthearted story and numerous puzzles and chests for players to discover. As players progress through the quest line, they will have the opportunity to uncover valuable rewards, including Primogems, by completing various world quests with unique unlock conditions.

One of the quests, "Returning Curios," requires players to follow specific instructions to complete it. Players who have been using HoYoLab's Interactive Map Tool may have noticed unobtainable chests and a world quest marked on the map since the start of the event. These markers are actually connected to the "Returning Curios" quest. It's important to note that the rewards for this quest cannot be found using the Joyspar Gadget, which is typically used to locate nearby Joyeux Vouchers. Instead, players should follow the provided steps to uncover these hidden rewards.

How To Unlock Returning Curios World Quest

To unlock the quest, players must complete Secret Summer Paradise: Part 3. Upon completion, the quest will automatically become accessible. Players can then find Idyia at the Silver Bottle Courtyard, located just north of the middle teleport point in this area. Once they have spoken to Idyia, players can initiate the quest and will need to find three hidden chests that contain mementos based on provided hints. Thankfully, these hints will have small area indicators to aid players in locating specific areas.

First Chest Location

The initial location is relatively near and easily identifiable compared to the subsequent spots. The provided clue hints at keywords like "lamppost" and "taking a seat." To discover this location, players should head south from where Idyia is located. There, they will encounter a group of two tables with multiple chairs. Players must sit on a chair that is topped with a lamp. By doing so, a Common Chest will materialize, allowing players to claim their rewards. Afterward, they can return to Idyia to progress to the next part of the quest.

Second Chest Location

This time, the hint provided involves navigating through a forest, witnessing a shooting star, and venturing to a secluded spot. The hint may not offer immediate clarity regarding the next steps to take. Nevertheless, players can easily progress towards the designated area in the southeast of the Silver Bottle Courtyard. Once there, they will stumble upon a Choo-Choo Cart location that was previously off-limits. Now, players have the opportunity to hop onto the cart and ride towards a nearby cave.

Upon arriving at the cave, players will immediately notice a Preprint Puzzle. However, prior to entering through the Projector, the box obstructing the path must be moved aside, enabling them to traverse in the 2D dimension. Once inside, the puzzle is comparably straightforward. In the initial section, players are required to ascend using the crate and the moving platform, subsequently progressing to the succeeding room within the puzzle by utilizing the portal.

Third Chest Location

In the second part, players are required to ride the moving platform halfway in order to reach the chest. Subsequently, they must return to the platform and ascend all the way up to access the exit. Once accomplished, they will find themselves on the opposite side of the vines and can conveniently spot a gleaming area nearby. At this point, players must unearth the Buried Exquisite Chest and the second memento by diligently digging. Upon completing this task, players can once again make their way back to Idyia.

Completing the third part of the quest is both time-consuming and relatively challenging. However, the reward that players receive upon completion is significantly greater. In this section, players must make their way to the stationary ferris wheel. Once they reach the nearby teleportation point, they can proceed up the pathway. Along the way, they will encounter a group of Hydro Eidolons who are eager to play a game of hide-and-seek, similar to other puzzle quests within the Veluriyam Mirage. Fortunately, the locations of these Hydro Eidolons are conveniently indicated on the map.

To initiate the first Hydro Eidolon encounter, players should proceed to the left within the trunk area. The Hydro Eidolon will subsequently traverse through various locations before ultimately returning to its starting point. Players should simply track the movements of the Hydro Eidolon, akin to following a Seelie, and kindly request it to "Please return to the original position."

The second Hydro Eidolon can be found on a floating rock. To reach it, players should return to the initial location and climb the small tree root to gain a clear view of the four leaf sigils up ahead. These sigils will act as a guide, leading players towards the nearby floating rock. Upon reaching the rock, the Hydro Eidolon will transform into a balloon puzzle. Players simply need to investigate or hit the balloons, causing them to become airborne, and then utilize a Bow character to shoot them down. Once the balloons have been successfully shot, players can ask the Hydro Eidolon to return to the original spot once again.

The ultimate Hydro Eidolon is conveniently situated in close proximity. All players have to do to reach the next designated spot is to trace the path of the initial four-leaf sigil towards the western direction. Upon arrival, they will stumble upon the Eidolon, under the relentless attack of fungi, situated on a modest wooden platform, slightly lower in elevation. Simply vanquishing all adversaries will allow the Eidolon to return to its original location.

Returning to the original spot, players will unlock the Clusterleaf, allowing them to discover more four-leaf sigils. These sigils are vital for ascending to the top of the Ferris Wheel. To locate the first sigil, players should follow the three Hydro Eidolons towards the tree trunks on the left. From there, they can navigate between the remaining four-leaf sigils until they reach the level where they can board the leaf carrier to the Ferris Wheel's summit. Once on the leaf, players need to look in the southeast direction. They will find a new series of four-leaf sigils. Upon approaching them, players can interact and advance towards the accessible floating platform. While on this platform, players can appreciate the scenery and interact with various markings, but their main focus should be on the buried chest positioned in the center. By unearthing the chest, players will gain access to the Luxurious Chest and acquire the final memento.

Burying A New Memento

Upon returning to Idyia, she mentions that travelers can participate in a tradition by burying their own memento. Both locations yield the same result, so players can choose either one. After selecting a location, players should proceed to the next designated spot and bury their chosen memento. Importantly, this decision does not have an impact on the final outcome.

Furthermore, players may stumble upon another shining spot near a tree at their chosen location. By digging at this spot, an additional memento is revealed. Players can then bring this newfound memento back to Idyia, which triggers additional dialogue in the quest. It's worth noting that players can keep all the mementos they collect throughout the quest until the end of the patch.

Returning Curios World Quest Rewards

Players will have the opportunity to claim one Common Chest, one Exquisite Chest, and one Luxurious Chest, which will contain Primogems and other valuable resources. Additionally, completing the quest will grant players an extra 20 Primogems and 11,000 Mora. Those interested in the narrative aspect of quests can also read the accompanying letters in the mementos.
