In Dogtown's Anatomicon building, players stumble upon a room teeming with lifeless bodies impaled through their hearts, while a haunting melody of death metal echoes in the background - a chilling nod to the Blade reference.
Unearthing this Easter egg further contributes to the already extensive repertoire of allusions and nostalgia present in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, lauded for its remarkable abundance and top-notch content.
A Cyberpunk 2077 player discovered a possible Blade Easter egg while exploring a shady building in Dogtown. The dilapidated area of Night City was recently added to the game as part of the Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty expansion on September 26. This DLC, the only one released by CD Projekt Red for their latest RPG, received widespread praise for its rich and plentiful content. In addition to offering numerous hours of quests, Phantom Liberty also introduced a significant number of new Easter eggs to the already extensive collection in Cyberpunk 2077.
In another testament to this accomplishment, Reddit user CrimzonSorrowz recently discovered what appears to be a clever reference to the popular Blade franchise in the hit RPG. While exploring the Anatomicon building in the southernmost part of Dogtown, the player came across a chilling scene—a room filled with lifeless bodies pierced through their hearts, while death metal music played in the background. Suddenly, they were confronted by a katana-wielding character donning a trench coat and stylish sunglasses.
After a challenging battle, during which the Blade lookalike even turned invisible, the Cyberpunk 2077 player uncovered the identity of their attacker: Wesley Hunt—an obvious nod to Wesley Snipes, the actor who famously portrayed Marvel's beloved character in three films. Although the immediate surroundings suggested that this familiar NPC was on a vampire hunt before being encountered by the player, nearby information indicated that the character had actually succumbed to Cyberpsychosis caused by an experimental substance, resulting in the deaths of those around him.
Several other players, in addition to CrimzonSorrowz, have come across a potential Blade Easter egg in Cyberpunk 2077. These players have shared their own observations about the mysterious figure, with one of them mentioning a message from Derek Frost on a nearby laptop belonging to Wesley Hunt. This message is believed to be a reference to Deacon "Deac" Frost, a significant character in the Blade lore. This discovery adds to the extensive list of references and callbacks to Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty that the fandom has unearthed so far. The recently released expansion also includes nods to The Witcher 3, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, John Wick, and various other popular media. The DLC itself has been a tremendous success, as CD Projekt Red disclosed that Phantom Liberty achieved 3 million sales in its first week of launch.
Cyberpunk 2077 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, while the Phantom Liberty DLC is exclusive to PC and current-gen consoles.
