"Blacksmith's Blues IV" marks the culmination of a multi-part questline, offering the most gratifying rewards. Unlike its predecessors, this installment primarily focuses on combat, as players are challenged with battling formidable Akashic beasts that grow progressively more difficult.
While it may pose a challenge, many players will likely be sufficiently leveled by the time they unlock "Blacksmith's Blues IV" in Final Fantasy 16, which significantly eases the gameplay. However, even if players are not adequately leveled, with the proper strategy, they can still overcome the obstacles and succeed.
How to Complete Blacksmith's Blues 4 in Final Fantasy 16
The "Blacksmith's Blues IV" side quest becomes available to players at the start of the "Across the Narrow" main story mission, assuming they have already completed "Blacksmith's Blues III". To initiate the quest, players must speak with August, who can be found at the hideaway near the hunt board. Following that, players will need to fast travel to the Dravozd Obelisk.
Upon arriving in Dravozd, players will be informed about the Aether flood occurring in the Dravozd mines. This flood has caused a massive influx of Akashic beasts to swarm towards the settlement. Blackthorne, a key figure, will make an appearance, after which players will need to communicate with August again when they feel prepared to engage in battle. The enemies will attack in four waves, with the initial wave consisting of an Akashic Bighorn along with several Akashic Wolves. It is advisable for players to prioritize dealing with the Bighorn, as it is highly likely that the other enemies will become collateral damage in the ensuing chaos.
Once the Bighorn is nearing its end, a group of Akashic Leg Eaters will emerge. Fortunately, these adversaries are relatively feeble, allowing players to continue unleashing their primary attacks on the Bighorn while Torgal handles the rest. Following that, players will confront an Akashic Griffin, which possesses greater strength compared to the one encountered in the initial "Blacksmith's Blues" side quest. Nonetheless, Clive's elevated power levels should ensure a decidedly one-sided battle.
Just when it seems like every enemy has been vanquished, a Canyon Chimera descends from above. The tactic to defeat it is quite similar to the Gorgimera Notorious Mark; the key is to stay behind the enemy and unleash Clive's most powerful attacks. Employing Megaflare is highly advantageous in this encounter as it is relatively easy to evade the Chimera's elemental assaults while charging it, typically resulting in an increased Megaflare level by one.
How to Craft the Gotterdammerung
Eventually, the Canyon Chimera is defeated, allowing players to return to the village. In a long-awaited reconciliation, Blackthorne and Zoltan put aside their differences. As a gesture of gratitude towards Clive, the two men agree to collaborate in creating a legendary blade. Subsequently, players are required to revisit the hideaway in order to claim their well-deserved reward. Upon doing so, they will receive 4,800 XP, 50 Renown, and the mighty Ragnarok sword. What's more, they will also be granted the highly coveted Gotterdammerung Design Draft, which can be utilized to fashion an even more formidable weapon. In order to create the Gotterdammerung, players will require Ragnarok, three pieces of Orichalcum, two pieces of Darksteel, and a Primitive Battlehorn. They already possess the former and can acquire the rest by successfully completing specific Notorious Mark hunts. Orichalcum can be obtained from Atlas, Svarog, Gorgimera, and Behemoth King, while Darksteel can be dropped by Prince of Death and Thanatos. The Primitive Battlehorn, the final item needed, can only be obtained by defeating Gobermouch.
