Arcade shooter enthusiasts eagerly await the next breakthrough in the genre. With annual releases of Call of Duty taking a backseat to Call of Duty: Warzone 2, and the troubled launch of Battlefield 2042 leaving the Battlefield series in a precarious state, fans yearn for a comparable experience reminiscent of the golden age of these franchises. In response, a dedicated team of independent developers has released BattleBit Remastered.
The goal of BattleBit Remastered is to recreate beloved elements of arcade shooters, while also enhancing the gameplay with added complexity, drawing inspiration from realistic military simulations like Squad. Due to the game's exceptionally fast time-to-kill, players must strategically plan their approach in combat. Utilizing their lightweight gadgets effectively becomes an absolute necessity on the battlefield.
9 Binoculars
The binoculars are extremely useful for long-range reconnaissance, especially considering the immense size of many maps in BattleBit Remastered. This tool enables players to identify and designate enemy targets for their teammates, setting the stage for long-distance eliminations. However, the most significant advantage of using binoculars is the absence of a scope glint, ensuring that players' positions remain concealed. Consequently, utilizing this gadget grants players greater flexibility in choosing weapon attachments, as there is less reliance on highly magnified scopes.
Nevertheless, there exist two alternative binocular models that serve as direct improvements over the basic version. While these upgraded binoculars are beneficial for beginners, players will inevitably abandon them once they unlock more advanced options.
8 M320 Smoke Grenade Launcher
In a first-person shooter game featuring expansive maps, the ability for players to establish their own protection becomes crucial. The M320 smoke grenade launcher offers a solution by launching rounds that generate thick, grey smoke clouds, effectively obstructing the opponent's line of sight. This device serves various purposes such as traversing enemy territory unnoticed, launching sudden attacks on enemy locations, or safely rescuing injured teammates.
Although the M320 smoke grenade launcher proves immensely valuable, its significance is diminished by the option for players to carry smoke grenades into battle by equipping them in the throwable equipment slot.
7 Repair Tool
The repair tool is a vital asset to the team as it is the only gadget capable of restoring the armor integrity of friendly vehicles. It allows friendly engineers to quickly repair vehicles, eliminating the need to return to the spawn point for health restoration.
Unlike most gadgets that can be used by various classes, the repair tool is exclusive to the engineer class. This encourages players who choose the engineer role to work closely with teammates in vehicles. Additionally, since engineers also carry anti-vehicle gadgets in their heavy gadget slot, the repair tool has exceptional class synergy, offering unparalleled utility in the game.
6 Advanced Binoculars
The advanced binoculars offer significant improvement over regular binoculars, providing players with enhanced visibility and finer details on the battlefield. With an optical zoom feature, players can now see even greater distances than with the original binoculars. Notably, the advanced binoculars eliminate the scope glint, making them a formidable rival to highly magnified scopes.
When wielded by a proficient recon, the advanced binoculars empower assassinations from long distances, spanning hundreds of meters. By concealing their position through the absence of a scope glint, snipers can covertly track and approach their targets, much like a ghost.
5 C4
The C4 allows players to strategically place potent explosive traps. Unlike other explosive devices, the C4 requires manual detonation, demanding players to be mindful of the placement. Nevertheless, the sheer force of these plastic explosives surpasses that of other gadgets, making them a formidable asset in combat.
One drawback of this tool is the possibility of requiring two or three blocks of C4 to destroy vehicles. On the bright side, players have the advantage of creating distance between themselves and the C4 before detonating it. This ensures they can harness the power of these tools without facing the consequences of respawning.
4 Bino Soflam
The soflam variant of binoculars is the most powerful option, building on the benefits of advanced binoculars. Soflam binoculars offer the highest zoom capability and also come equipped with a built-in range finder to determine the distance between a player and an enemy.
However, there is a significant drawback to the soflam binoculars in that only the squad leader can carry them. This limits the potential impact of these binoculars unless the leader is part of a closely coordinated squad. Nevertheless, the soflam binoculars are without a doubt the most powerful choice in BattleBit Remastered, surpassing the usefulness of other available options.
3 Claymore
The claymore proves to be an effective explosive device in close-quarters combat, particularly suited for urban environments. In BattleBit Remastered maps, which often consist of tightly packed urban areas with narrow streets and concealed alleyways, the claymore excels. By strategically placing these explosives around corners, panicking enemy forces can be swiftly and efficiently depleted.
Furthermore, players who prefer holding down buildings will find claymores to be of great value. Placing them on stairs and around doorways enhances the effectiveness of these devices. However, it is worth noting that the claymore does have a minor drawback - tripwires that protrude from its front. Diligent enemy players may spot these wires and shoot the claymore, rendering it harmless. Nevertheless, these incredibly potent lightweight gadgets can be utilized in a myriad of situations.
2 Anti-Vehicle Mine
The anti-vehicle mine in BattleBit Remastered is a highly effective ground vehicle deterrent. Its purpose is to prevent vehicles from entering crowded areas, and it accomplishes this by inflicting significant damage upon any vehicle that drives over it. Furthermore, these mines are more discreet and difficult to detect when compared to C4 explosives.
Even if enemy vehicles manage to spot the anti-vehicle mines, they can still serve as a deterrent against troop transports. These compact devices are particularly advantageous for channeling the enemy forces in a specific direction, thereby facilitating better control over the overall battle.
1 Anti-Personnel Mine
The anti-personnel mine is currently one of the most potent "set and forget" explosives in BattleBit Remastered. Similar to the claymore, it is strategically placed on the ground to act as a trap for the enemy team. Unlike the claymore, however, the anti-personnel mine does not have visible tripwires that may alert the enemy.
Instead, when an enemy unknowingly steps on the mine, it detonates with the same explosive impact as a claymore. This versatile device can effectively defend buildings, ambush enemies on roads, or be positioned in high-traffic areas. Combining the strengths of the claymore and anti-vehicle mine, it proves to be an exceptionally formidable tool.
BattleBit Remastered is available now on PC.
