BattleBit Remastered Teases Exciting Console Port Potential

Developers of the highly acclaimed multiplayer shooter, BattleBit Remastered, share their insights on the potential console release of the game, raising anticipation among fans for the possibility of enjoying the viral sensation on their favorite gaming platforms

The developers of the popular online multiplayer PC game, BattleBit Remastered, have not ruled out the possibility of porting the game to consoles. However, console players who have seen the game played on PC through Twitch and are hoping for a PlayStation or Xbox release should manage their expectations. While bringing BattleBit Remastered to console is a possibility, the developers believe it is unlikely to happen anytime soon.

Since its release in early access on June 15, 2023, BattleBit Remastered has achieved tremendous success. The game quickly gained a concurrent player count of over 60,000, which rose to nearly 90,000 within a week and has remained consistently high. It attracts over 60,000 concurrent players daily and continues to be one of Steam's top-selling games. BattleBit Remastered offers a back-to-basics experience with 254-player matches and visuals reminiscent of Minecraft, which appears to be exactly what PC gamers desire.

With BattleBit Remastered having been released for a month now, TheLiquidHorse, a developer, conducted an AMA session to address the game's future. Among the questions asked was whether BattleBit Remastered would be available on consoles. The response clarified that, currently, there are no plans to make a console version of BattleBit Remastered. The reasoning behind this decision is that the team feels unable to replicate the same gaming experience on consoles as they can on PC.

However, this doesn't rule out the possibility of BattleBit Remastered being eventually released on PlayStation or Xbox. In response to a follow-up question, the developer stated that it is certainly possible, but it will take some time. The focus right now remains on fully launching BattleBit Remastered on PC, and only after that will a console port be considered.

Most of the AMA focuses on discussing upcoming content and changes, while also addressing intriguing questions about the success of BattleBit Remastered. The developer states that the majority of the profits will be reinvested into future development. Although the developers are uncertain about the reasons behind BattleBit Remastered's remarkable success, they suggest that their ability to not take themselves too seriously and the freedom they have contribute to its popularity, distinguishing it from franchises like Battlefield.

Now, the next significant challenge for BattleBit Remastered emerges. Acquiring an audience initially is the most difficult part, but retaining that audience for months or even years is not guaranteed. Expanding the game's audience could be achieved by bringing it to consoles. However, for now, console fans will have to rely on watching gameplay on platforms like Twitch and reconsider the possibility of a BattleBit Remastered console version in a year or few.
