Trista Sutter and her family are currently enjoying a well-deserved vacation in Mexico. Her husband, Ryan Sutter, recently caused a bit of concern on social media, but now they are all relaxing on the beach.
Trista, 51, shared a photo of Ryan, 49, lounging in a hammock, joking that he is in his "relaxation era." She also posted pictures of their daughter Blakesley, 14, and son Maxwell, 16, playfully referring to them as being in their "beach girl" and "pina colada" phases. Additionally, she uploaded a video of herself walking towards her family who were snorkeling in the sea.
Trista and Ryan caused a bit of a stir when he posted some mysterious messages about his wife's whereabouts in May. Ryan took to Instagram to express his feelings about Trista's "absence," mentioning how he missed her on Mother's Day and how he longed to have conversations with her.
In one of his Instagram posts, Ryan, who is usually quiet, reflected, "There have been many times when I called you without much to say, not realizing how fortunate I was or how much I would miss the chance if it were gone. I want to know how you're doing. I want to support, encourage, and root for you. I want to be by your side. But I can't. And that's okay because I understand that you need this time – time to rediscover yourself."
Trista, who had been keeping her mysterious trip a secret, finally broke her silence on social media on Saturday, May 25th. She addressed and dispelled any rumors that had surfaced after Ryan's cryptic posts.
Trista shared a post on Instagram on Saturday, joking about having a nervous breakdown, trial separation, midlife crisis, death, or divorce in peace. Alongside a photo of herself with Ryan and their kids on a beach, she reassured her followers that she is safe, sound, happy, healthy, in love, and grateful.
For those who are concerned, Trista wanted to let them know that she is doing well. And for those who prefer to focus on negativity and search for darkness, she wished them good luck with that.
Trista, who was the runner-up on season 1 of The Bachelor and the first-ever Bachelorette, shared that she had an opportunity for personal growth and chose to prioritize herself with the support of her family and friends. She knew that her responsibilities as a stay-at-home mom and her kids' end-of-the-school-year needs were in good hands.
She mentioned that her husband, Ryan, is typically private on social media but made an exception to express his love for her through a "digital diary."
Most of the time, the world doesn’t pay too much attention. This time, he couldn’t say anything right and just about every news outlet picked up his “cryptic/confusing/attention-seeking/dramatic” pictures and captions,” she wrote. “To me, they gave me exactly what my Words of Affirmation love language needed to get me through some serious self doubt and fear…and that’s all that matters. He doesn’t owe anyone any explanation or require permission to post what he wants to post and share what he wants to share.”
There’s been no news yet on what Trista was up to, but she said she would share “the rest of the story” in due time. For now, she’s enjoying the family trip to Mexico, joking, “After all, nervous breakdowns and separations require much needed rest and relaxation!”
Ryan recently addressed the attention surrounding his social media posts. He shared in a note on Instagram on May 18 that he likes to share his thoughts from time to time to help him process them and possibly offer guidance to others in similar situations.
He reassured everyone that he and Trista are doing well. They are in a good place. Trista is currently exploring different aspects of her life. An opportunity came up that could aid in her journey, and with the support of her family, she decided to pursue it. As a result, she is temporarily unavailable to them, and they miss her dearly.
Ryan was overjoyed to be back with his wife after his journey. He posted a photo of their family at the beach on Sunday, May 26, and wrote about how being apart made them appreciate each other more. He mentioned that it brought up questions, worries, and reflections, but ultimately ended in joy and celebration. Overall, he expressed gratitude for the time spent apart and the happiness of being reunited with loved ones.
