At KIIS FM's iHeartRadio Jingle Ball on December 1, Trista Sutter, an original Bachelorette, shared her tips for getting married on TV with The Golden Bachelor’s Gerry Turner. “Just enjoy it,” the 51-year-old advised. “Weddings are stressful, and weddings on television are even more stressful. So as long as you are focused on each other and come with intention, they’re gonna be great.”
Trista found love with her now-husband, Ryan Sutter, during the first season of The Bachelorette in 2003. Their journey culminated in a televised wedding special called Trista & Ryan’s Wedding later that year. They have since welcomed two children, 16-year-old son Maxwell and 14-year-old daughter Blakesley.
Similarly, 72-year-old Gerry made headlines in Bachelor Nation as the first Golden Bachelor earlier this year. After connecting with multiple women, Gerry proposed to Theresa Nist during the season finale on Thursday, November 30. Host Jesse Palmer revealed during the After the Final Rose special that the couple will be getting married in a live wedding special in January 2024.
Trista appeared as a guest on episode 4 of The Golden Bachelor, joining Gerry, Jesse, and future Bachelor lead Joey Graziadei in judging the contestants' pickleball contest. In an interview with E!, she shared that she used her time on the show to offer Gerry some advice on managing his multiple relationships.
"He was having a tough time, feeling lost," she said. "So, I told him, 'You need to find someone who you can't live without, not just someone you can live with. Of course, you want to find someone you can live with, but it's the person you can't live without that matters."

During his proposal to Theresa, 70, Gerry expressed that she was not just the right person for him to live with, but the person he couldn't live without. This declaration was met with criticism from fans, especially regarding his breakup with runner-up Leslie Fhima. Leslie felt blindsided by Gerry after he had seemingly confirmed that she was his final choice.
"I felt like a villain at times," Gerry admitted when discussing Leslie's appearance on Good Morning America on Friday. When questioned about giving her "false hope," he responded, "I really have no answer to that other than, in that moment, that's how I felt."

During the "Bachelor Happy Hour" podcast on December 4, Leslie revealed her side of the story, alleging that Gerry did not follow through on promises he made to her during their private time in the fantasy suites. She claimed, "He made plans with me for the future. He said, 'Save the date, this is what we're going to do. I can't wait for us.' In two more days, we'll be done with this and be together, start our life.' Did he say, 'Will you marry me?' in there, no, but he all but said that. I would've been happy with just 'I love you,' but he took it to a different level."

Trista would like to see Leslie move forward as the first Golden Bachelorette and believes she deserves a redemption story. She expressed her support, saying, "I think that everyone is going to rally around her if they sign her up for it, and we'll all be rooting for her." The Golden Wedding will debut on ABC on Thursday, January 4, 2024.
