Travis Kelce had an amazing time attending the season 49 Saturday Night Live premiere, although he can't quite recall everything he said.
On his "New Heights" podcast episode on Wednesday, October 18, Kelce, who is 34 years old, shared his exciting weekend in New York City with Taylor Swift. Both Swift, who is 33, and the Kansas City Chiefs athlete surprised viewers by appearing on the episode of Saturday Night Live on Saturday, October 14. The show was hosted by Pete Davidson. Swift introduced her friend Ice Spice as the musical guest, and Kelce made a cameo appearance at the end of a skit inspired by the NFL's "Swift-mania."
"I have no recollection of what I said; I completely lost consciousness," he confided in his brother Jason Kelce, jokingly adding that Travis only managed to utter "two lines" on television. "As soon as they turned the cameras on me, the entire place erupted, which was incredibly overwhelming, and I'm not even sure if I managed to say anything."
Despite previously hosting SNL following the Kansas City Chiefs' victory over the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl earlier this year, Travis still experienced nerves. "Everyone was like, 'No, you did great,'" he recalled. "Even after watching it back, I'm still not entirely sure if I said what I was supposed to."
Kenan Thompson jokingly mentioned in character as commentator Curt Menefee that Taylor Swift, who had been receiving nonstop coverage by the NFL after attending one of Travis' games in September, had recently attended two more Chiefs games. He added, "It's Week 7, and for any Taylor Swift fans watching, the Chiefs game was on Thursday. You just missed her."
Fellow members of the panel, including Howie Long, emphasized their commitment to staying focused on the NFL broadcast rather than the fascination with Swift's relationship with Travis. Cast member James Austin Johnson jokingly remarked, "I'm just relieved it's not Matty Healy," referring to Swift's brief romance with The 1975's frontman following her split from Joe Alwyn.
Co-star Devon Walker echoed this sentiment, addressing Travis Kelce and stating, "Whatever it may be, as a fellow Super Bowl champion, I want to emphasize that this is a much bigger deal than the Super Bowl. You can't afford to make any mistakes. It's extremely delicate."
The sketch then shifted to Davidson, 29, who was wearing Eras Tour merchandise as he reported from the sidelines of a football game. "Blondie is still nowhere in sight. I'm starting to question why I'm even here," he quipped.
Wrapping up the segment, the hosts mentioned that they would be "talking to someone who is genuinely interested in discussing football" — at which point the cameras focused on Travis. "That would be me!" exclaimed the NFL professional.
After the episode, Travis and Swift strolled hand in hand towards the afterparty, overflowing with excitement. Travis expressed his gratitude on Wednesday, giving special thanks to Lorne Michaels, the creator of SNL, for his warm hospitality.
"When we decided to show up at SNL to support Ice Spice, who is a friend of Taylor's, I had the additional thrill of finally meeting Pete Davidson, someone I've been a fan of for a long time... Being back in that place felt absolutely electrifying," Travis shared on the podcast. "There's just something about being in that room... It was a star-studded backstage area. I won't name-drop, as that's not really my style, but it was truly incredible."
