Travis Kelce doesn't mind the attention that comes with his growing fame, even when he gets booed.
In a recent episode of "New Heights" on Wednesday, May 29, the 34-year-old tight end shared what happened when he attended a Dallas Mavericks game with his teammate Patrick Mahomes. His brother and cohost, Jason Kelce, playfully mentioned the mixed reaction they received from fans at the stadium.
Travis joked back, "Yeah, I got booed twice. It’s whatever. I get it. I’m not from Dallas. I’m just kind of like an innocent bystander."
When Jason asked why the crowd reacted so strongly, Travis playfully responded, "I don’t know. Maybe they just don’t like the Chiefs."
Travis and Mahomes, both 28 years old, attended the NBA Playoffs on Sunday, May 26, where they were seen sitting courtside at the American Airlines Center in Texas. They were accompanied by Patrick's wife, Brittany Mahomes, and the trio even made it onto the Jumbotron during the game. When the camera focused on Travis, the crowd responded with boos.
Videos shared on social media captured Travis laughing and clapping before the attention shifted to Patrick, who hails from Texas. The audience cheered loudly as the spotlight shone on the quarterback.
Travis shared more details about the uncomfortable moment on Wednesday. He mentioned how he was taking a selfie when suddenly Pat tapped him and he realized he was on the Jumbotron. Hearing the boos from the crowd, Travis jokingly said, "Oh s—t, I'm getting booed! Alright, nice. … Appreciate the warm welcome."
Before heading to watch the Mavericks take on the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday, Travis and his friends had a blast at the NHL Western Conference Final the day before. The Dallas Stars emerged victorious against the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday, May 25, and the group celebrated at the same arena.
Travis shared his excitement about the game on the podcast, saying, “It was amazing to see the Stars scoring early, but Edmonton didn't back down. The game was intense, with the Stars constantly attacking. It was a thrilling experience that kept us on the edge of our seats.”
Travis has been sharing his adventures with listeners of "New Heights" during the NFL offseason through the "Out of the House" segment. He joked about not being at home and instead recording from a random theater on the West Coast.
After the Chiefs' back-to-back Super Bowl win in February, Travis has been keeping busy. In addition to working on two new shows, "Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?" and "Ryan Murphy's Grotesquerie," he has also traveled abroad to support his girlfriend, Taylor Swift, on her Eras Tour. Travis was accompanied by Gigi Hadid and Bradley Cooper while cheering for Swift in Paris recently.
"He wants to support her as much as he can while he can, so he plans to travel back and forth between the U.S. and Europe while he has the time," a source shared exclusively with We. The insider added, "For now, Travis can arrange his schedule to spend time with Taylor."
