Travis Kelce has no problem with the spotlight on his relationship with Taylor Swift. The 34-year-old Kansas City Chiefs tight end shared in an interview with Extra's Billy Bush that he has always felt at ease in front of the camera. This conversation took place on the set of his new Amazon Prime Video game show, Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?, and was published on Thursday, April 25th.
Kelce shared that growing up, he was always around home videos that his mom recorded with an old camcorder. The camera and lights on him made him feel at ease.
He mentioned that he enjoys a good challenge and gets excited about trying new things. The opportunity to focus on something unfamiliar is what he truly appreciates and loves.
Kelce and Swift, 34, started dating in the summer of 2023. Recently, a source revealed to us how the 14-time Grammy Award winner’s current relationship is unlike her previous ones, which were often kept private.
According to the insider, Taylor feels a sense of freedom with Travis that she hasn't experienced before. He makes her feel secure and allows her to be herself without any constraints.
Part of the freedom in Swift and Kelce's relationship is the ability to publicly support each other. During the 2023-2024 season, Swift went to 13 Chiefs games to cheer on Kelce. Kelce also made the effort to attend some of Swift's Eras Tour dates, even flying to Australia for a two-day trip to catch one of her shows in February.
In a December 2023 TIME Magazine Person of the Year profile, Swift discussed the importance of not hiding their relationship.
"When a relationship is public, it means we support each other in our interests, are unbothered by others being around, and don't hide our connection," she explains. "On the contrary, keeping a relationship secret requires a lot of effort to conceal it from others. We are simply proud of each other."
Being open about their relationship has not only benefited Swift and Kelce, but also their families, who have been happy to share the spotlight with the couple.
Donna Kelce, mother of Travis, spoke at the QVC Women’s Summit in Las Vegas on April 24. She praised her son's girlfriend for listening to all 31 songs on Taylor Swift's surprise double album, The Tortured Poets Department, released on April 19. Swift announced the album during her Grammy acceptance speech in February. Donna mentioned that some songs may be about Travis, but she will ask Swift about it when they meet.
While she admitted she doesn’t “really” have a favorite track, she made it clear that she’s impressed with Swift’s latest work.
“It’s her best one!” she told Us.
Donna and Swift became close friends during the 2023-2024 NFL season, where Donna supported Swift at his games with his family.
A source revealed in January that Travis values Taylor's bond with his family, as she seamlessly fits in with them.
