There was a time when Travis Kelce wasnt interested in talking about his personal life, but no more.
He is featured as the cover star of WSJ Magazine's latest issue and he is opening up about his relationship with Taylor Swift.
"I have never been involved with someone who has that kind of presence... I have never experienced it," Kelce shared with the publication regarding Swift's constant spotlight. "However, I am not avoiding any of it... She faces intense scrutiny, constantly being under a microscope. Paparazzi surround her house, follow her to every restaurant, and greet her after every flight. Yet, she continues to live her life and enjoy it. When she can handle it with such grace, I shouldn't be the one acting strangely."
Things appear to be going well. Kelce described his new girlfriend is "hilarious" and "a genius."
They share similar world views, he said, including when it comes to family.
"Everyone is well aware that I'm a family-oriented individual," Kelce expressed. "For her, her team is like her second family. They partake in numerous activities such as tours, marketing, and constantly being present. Therefore, I believe that she shares similar values, which align perfectly with my own."
Interestingly, it was Team Swift who played a significant role in bringing the two of us together. This came about after I openly mentioned my attempt to reach out to her by sending my phone number through a friendship bracelet."
Some of Swift's family members may have played a role in initiating the romance.
"Although she may not be pleased with my comment, when she arrived at Arrowhead, she was allocated the spacious locker room as her dressing room. Surprisingly, her younger cousins were busy capturing moments right in front of my assigned locker," Kelce revealed.
The people around Kelce were noticeably more anxious about his initial outing with the renowned singer than he was.
"Everyone around me is warning me, 'Don't mess this up!'" He repeated, while calmly affirming, "Yeah, I understand," he shared. Kelce mentioned that they had already exchanged a few words before their dinner meeting in New York City, so he expected everything to go smoothly.
The Kansas City Chiefs football player expressed his discretion in the statements he made regarding their relationship to the media. He emphasized the importance of refraining from saying anything that could potentially strain his connection with Taylor, as stated in WSJ magazine.
Donna Kelce, his mother, initially had reservations about expressing her thoughts on Swift in an interview with "Today" due to concerns about their privacy. However, after receiving reassurance from her son, she has become more open in sharing her thoughts.
"I can tell you this," she told the publication while beaming. "Hes happier than Ive seen him in a long timeâ¦. God bless him, he shot for the stars!"
