Aston Villa have completed the loan signing of Galatasaray midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo.
The 24-year-old joins Villa, subject to a successful visa application.
Unai Emery was eager to secure a replacement for Emi Buendia, who sustained a significant knee injury during training last week and is expected to be unavailable for the majority of the season.
Zaniolo was promptly identified as a potential candidate, with Villa's transfer director, Monchi, being well acquainted with him since signing him for Roma in 2018.
Zaniolo, who was a league champion with the Istanbul club last season, achieved his breakthrough at AS Roma in his native country. His notable performances led AS Roma to win the UEFA Europa Conference League in 2022. During his initial season in Rome, the midfielder's impressive displays earned him the title of Serie A Young Player of the Year for 2018/19.
