Tori Kelly's husband, André Murillo, provided an update on the singer's health as she recovers from blood clots. In an Instagram Story on Wednesday, July 26, the former basketball player, 33, shared that Tori is starting to feel better and is smiling again. However, they are still awaiting additional information and not completely in the clear yet. André expressed gratitude for the overwhelming love and kindness they have received. Thank you all so much! ️
Two days after TMZ reported that Kelly, who is 30 years old, was taken to the hospital on July 23, after fainting during a night out with friends, Murillo provided an update. Upon her arrival at the hospital, doctors discovered blood clots in Kelly's legs and lungs. Following the news of his wife's health scare, Murillo, who married the musician in 2018, posted a clip on his Instagram Story of Kelly singing "Where Do I Fit In," a song she collaborated on with Justin Bieber and Chandler Moore.
In the audio clip, Kelly sings about feeling alone and fearful, and sitting in silence with her insecurities. However, she is reminded that her partner is there for her, holding her tightly and loving her completely.
Prior to the hospitalization of the American Idol alum, Murillo posted a heartfelt Instagram collage showing the couple recreating the same photo over the years. The pictures depict Murillo holding Kelly in his arms, while she embraces him.
Kelly's health scare comes shortly before the release of her upcoming EP, Tori, on Friday, July 28. Prior to this, the musician gave a preview of one of the EP's tracks, titled "Alive If I Die," via Instagram on Thursday, July 20.
In the teaser, Kelly delivers powerful lyrics, singing, "I'm experiencing a feeling as if I could perish today / I'm transcending my physical form, soaring away. It's permissible if I meet my end within your embrace tonight / it's permissible if I meet my end within your embrace tonight."
Having released her emotionally charged album Inspired by True Events in 2019, the Grammy winner expressed her desire to embark on a fresh musical journey. Addressing her intentions, Kelly shared in an interview with HollywoodLife in August 2022, "After exploring deeply personal themes on my last album, I have healed and now crave a more light-hearted approach. I am eager to delve into the subject of love as a married woman and create music that encourages dancing and enjoyment. That's what I've been focusing on lately."
