A top-tier DC movie has just arrived on Netflix and quickly made its way to the top 10 chart. Marvel's successful cinematic universe was built on well-received box office hits, but DC has struggled to establish a similar level of quality in its films.
DC's enterprise is a complex and intriguing franchise in modern cinema, with a mix of successful hits like Man of Steel and Wonder Woman, and disappointing entries like 2017's Justice League and the first Suicide Squad. Despite its ups and downs, the franchise ended on a low note with the underwhelming Aquaman 2, marking a historically bad superhero year.
Despite this, there is definite allure in the darker side of comic book adaptations, particularly with the success of Joker, the billion-dollar-grossing supervillain origin story, now under the Elseworlds banner.

Todd Phillips, known for his work on "The Hangover" and "Old School," directs this film that follows the rise and fall of Arthur Fleck, a mentally unstable loner with aspirations of becoming a stand-up comedian. A pivotal shooting triggers a downward spiral that leaves a lasting impact on Gotham. Despite mixed reviews upon its wider release, the film piqued the interest of audiences and went on to become the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time, earning an impressive $1.079 billion.
It's no surprise to see that Joker has become one of Netflix's top titles at the moment. "I am thrilled that JOKER is now on Netflix, I've been eager to watch this movie for a long time," one user tweeted.
