The showrunners of Dancing With the Stars created controversy in July 2020 by replacing hosts Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews with Tyra Banks. However, this was not the first time there had been a change in hosts for the show. Bergeron had been the consistent host since the show's debut in 2005 until season 28, which aired in 2019.

Prior to Andrews joining the show in 2014 for season 18, there had been several cohosts alongside him. However, over the course of 11 seasons, their partnership became inseparable from the show.
Although the departure of Bergeron and Andrews came as a surprise, Andrews revealed exclusively to We in November 2021 that she saw it as a hidden blessing. "They desired to take a different path, and that's what they are pursuing now. Hopefully, it brings them happiness," she stated.

In July 2020, the showrunners of Dancing With the Stars created controversy by replacing hosts Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews with Tyra Banks. However, this was not the first instance of a host change for the popular dance competition.
Bergeron had been a consistent presence as the host of the show since its debut in 2005 until season 28, which aired in 2019.

Although Bergeron and Andrews leaving the show came as a surprise, Andrews revealed in a November 2021 interview with We that she considered it a fortunate turn of events. She stated, "They decided to pursue a different path, and that's what they're currently doing. I hope they're content with their decision."
Banks, on the other hand, welcomed Alfonso Ribeiro as a cohost in 2022. She left DWTS the next year to make way for Julianne Hough in season 32.
