Tom Brady is getting ready to be roasted in what is being called the "greatest roast of all time." Netflix revealed on Monday, April 22, that the seven-time Super Bowl champion will be the focus of its inaugural live celebrity roast.
In a preview for the show, Tom Brady, who is 46 years old, is seen walking in front of the Kia Forum in Los Angeles. The arena is surrounded by flames and a sign on the building says “GROAT,” which stands for “greatest roast of all time.”
Kevin Hart, who is hosting the event, can be heard in the trailer. He says, “The man. The arena. The roast of Tom Brady, live on Netflix. No helmet, no mercy.”
Brady confidently replies, "No problem at all," as the building explodes.
Comedian Jeffrey Ross, also known as the "Roastmaster General," makes an appearance in the clip and jokingly says, "We're coming for you, pretty boy." Brady responds, "I'm untouchable when it comes to roasting."
Brady appeared on the Today show on Monday and mentioned that he is excited for the upcoming roast. He mentioned that he is not worried about the comedians on the panel, as he has experience playing in the NFL.
The roast is set to be live, unedited, and uncensored, with a lineup of surprise guests.
The special will be featured as part of the annual “Netflix Is a Joke Fest” happening from Thursday, May 2, to Sunday, May 12, in Los Angeles. This festival will showcase over 300 shows with popular comedians such as Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock, Chelsea Handler, Howie Mandel, Katt Williams, David Letterman, Jon Stewart, Trevor Noah, and many others.
The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady will be available for streaming on Netflix from the Kia Forum in L.A. on Sunday, May 5, at 8 p.m. ET.
Brady spent 20 seasons with the New England Patriots before finishing his career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2020 to 2022.
On February 22, 2022, he made the announcement that he was retiring. However, just 40 days later, he had a change of heart and decided to return to the Buccaneers for the 2022 season.
Earlier this year, Brady teamed up with Ben Affleck and Matt Damon in a Dunkin’ Super Bowl commercial. They portrayed a fake boy band called The DunKings. In the commercial, Affleck, who is 51, led the trio in a humorous attempt to crash his wife Jennifer Lopez’s recording session in hopes of landing a spot on her upcoming album.
A full-length version of “Don’t Dunk Away at My Heart,” the song they briefly performed for Lopez, later made its streaming debut.
Dunkin’ comically promoted The DunKings.
The brand stated, "Get ready for non-stop listening with this hit song that's taking the charts by storm. It's so catchy, with 'Touchdown Tommy on the keys' (Tom Brady), Matt Damon providing backup vocals, and the original DunKing, Ben Affleck, powered by his love for Dunkin'."
