Tina Knowles Shocks Fans with Divorce Filing from Richard Lawson After 8 Years of Marriage - What Went Wrong?

Beyoncé’s mom, Tina Knowles, has filed for divorce from husband Richard Lawson after eight years of marriage. 

Knowles, aged 69, has officially filed for divorce on Wednesday, July 26, as per documents acquired by TMZ. This comes just a day after the date listed for their separation. The reason behind the split, according to Knowles, is irreconcilable differences.

Knowles and Lawson, aged 76, got married in 2015 at Newport, California. Their wedding took place on a 140-foot yacht in an intimate ceremony, where Beyoncé and Solange, Knowles' daughters, were present. Beyoncé's husband, Jay-Z, and their eldest daughter, Blue Ivy, were also witnesses to the event.

Lawson took to Instagram to share a heartfelt post about their love story, recalling how they had first met 39 years ago. He expressed his awe at her beauty and how it was only surpassed by her kind heart, compassion, generosity, and philanthropy. Despite her being married and pregnant with Beyonce at the time, Lawson admits that his infatuation could only exist in his fantasies. Over the years, their friendship grew, and Lawson admired her transformation into a remarkable mother to her daughters and her commitment to supporting and empowering women globally.

He said, "It took 32 years for my attraction to you to complete its cycle. It was definitely worth the wait. You are an innovative, visionary, extraordinary artist, a trendsetter, an influential figure, a symbol of culture, a divine warrior with irresistible allure, and second only to God. You are my beloved wife. How fortunate am I?"

In response to the tribute, Knowles commented in Lawson's section, expressing, "Thank God it worked out. Period."

Tina and Mathew Knowles were previously married from 1980 to 2011. After over three decades together, they decided to end their marriage in August 2011. In a statement to the Associated Press, Tina and Mathew expressed that the decision was amicable, and they would continue to remain friends, parents, and business partners.
