Meghan Markle's mom, Doria Ragland, and Beyoncé's mom, Tina Knowles, are becoming good friends.
Ragland, 67, and Knowles, 70, were seen posing with their arms around each other at the Kinsey Collection Exhibition at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on Thursday, March 21. The event was organized by Meghan, 42, and Prince Harry.
The Kinsey Collection's official Instagram page shared images on Tuesday, April 2, of a group discussion on the history and importance of Black art. The focus was on how different communities can collaborate to preserve this crucial part of American history.
This event was made possible through a collaboration between The Archewell Foundation, established by Harry, 39, and Meghan, and The Bernard and Shirley Kinsey Foundation for Arts and Education.
Beyoncé and Meghan have been close friends for a long time. They were seen at SoFi Stadium in September 2023, supporting Beyoncé during her Renaissance Tour along with Meghan's mother, Ragland.
Following Harry and Meghan's revealing interview in March 2021, Beyoncé publicly expressed her admiration for her dear friend. She posted a heartfelt message on her website, thanking Meghan for her bravery and leadership. During the sixth episode of Netflix’s Harry & Meghan, Meghan shared that Beyoncé had reached out to show her support. In the footage, Meghan mentioned that Beyoncé had texted her and Harry jokingly reacted with surprise, saying "Shut up. Just checking in. Just casual."
Meghan then read the message from Beyoncé out loud to Harry. In the episode, Meghan expressed her disbelief that Beyoncé knew who she was, and shared that Beyoncé wanted her to feel safe and protected. Beyoncé also admired Meghan's bravery and vulnerability, believing that Meghan was chosen to break generational curses that needed healing.
Harry paused and remarked, "That was well put."
The previous member of Destiny's Child, along with her husband Jay-Z, expressed their appreciation for Meghan during their acceptance speech for the Brit Award for Best International Group in February 2019. In the video recording, they stood before a portrait of Meghan adorned with a crown and pearl necklaces.
The video paid tribute to Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s “APES–T” music video, featuring the Mona Lisa positioned behind them similarly.
Beyoncé took to Instagram to honor Black History Month and praise Meghan, referring to her as one of their Melanated Monas. Four months after Meghan announced her pregnancy with son Archie, Beyoncé congratulated her and wished her much joy.
