Tiger Woods set a new record at the Masters by making the most consecutive cuts with another strong performance on a long Friday at Augusta National.
The 48-year-old golfer, who had concerns about his ability to handle the challenging course after a previous injury, was only in his third competitive start since withdrawing from the tournament last year.
Woods, who is still recovering from leg injuries from a car accident in 2021, did not ease concerns before the tournament. He mentioned that he will be using painkillers to manage the pain and discomfort he experiences daily.

After going one-under par through 13 holes before darkness halted Thursday's storm-delayed first round, the five-time Masters champion battled wind and fatigue to end one-over after playing 23 more holes on Friday.
His second round even-par 72 was an improvement from the opening one-over 73. With the projected cut-line at four-over par as he finished, Woods secured his record-breaking 24th consecutive weekend at Augusta National.
Tiger Woods, a 15-time major winner, had previously shared the record for the longest streak of cuts made at the tournament with Gary Player (1959 – 1982) and Fred Couples (1983 – 2007).
When asked by reporters about the significance of this milestone, Woods simply replied, "I'm here. I have a chance to win the golf tournament."

Friday was highlighted by a stunning chip in birdie at the sixth and an approach that stopped on a dime two holes later that delighted patrons.
Woods continues to be a beloved figure among fans at Augusta National. After finishing with a par, he was warmly welcomed by the crowd and shared a hug with his playing partner Rory McIlroy.
