Looking back, if I could change one thing about 2009 and everything that happened, it would be to have a more open and honest relationship with my ex-wife. He mentioned, "If we had been more open and honest during our marriage, we could have avoided a lot of frustrations. Now that we are able to communicate openly, our relationship has greatly improved."

In November 2009, Woods invited Uchitel to watch him play in the Australian Masters. That same month, the golfer had his then-girlfriend talk to his then-wife on the phone to try to shut down speculation about their relationship in the media.

According to Uchitel in the HBO doc Tiger in 2021, she and Woods' then-wife had a 30-minute conversation where she convinced her that there was no sexual relationship between her and Tiger. They discussed how she knew Tiger, his friends, and the reason she was in Australia. Despite their efforts, the story still came out, but it seemed to have been overlooked. Uchitel recalled thinking, 'Oh my God, we're gonna fly right over this,' after the phone call with Elin.

2009

In the same month, Nordegren found out that Woods was cheating on her and called Uchitel. According to Uchitel, she answered the phone thinking it was Woods, but it turned out to be Nordegren who said, "I knew it was you."

More than a dozen women subsequently alleged that they also had affairs with Woods before he checked into treatment for sex addiction.

2010 divorce

In February 2010, Woods spoke to the press after finishing a 45-day treatment program.

He shared, "I believed that I had put in a lot of effort throughout my life and should be able to indulge in all the temptations that surrounded me. I thought I deserved it," he admitted. "With money and fame, I didn't have to look far to find those temptations. But I was mistaken. I was being foolish."

Several months later, Nordegren and Woods finalized their divorce in August 2010.

In a statement, Woods expressed sadness over the end of their marriage but emphasized that their children's happiness was their top priority. He mentioned that they would focus on ensuring the well-being of their children during the challenging transition period and requested privacy as they navigate their new family situation.

According to reports, Nordegren did not sign a prenup and was granted $110 million in their settlement.

Nordegren has stayed mum on their split over the years, but she joked about the scandal during a speech at her Rollins College graduation in May 2014.

"I got married before starting college but we didn't have any children at that time. Fast forward nine years, and now I am a proud American mother of two beautiful children. Unfortunately, I am no longer married," she shared. She mentioned how the Florida university provided her with a sense of calm amidst the chaos of her personal life.

Five years after their divorce was finalized, Woods told Time that his ex-wife is one of his “best friends."

He expressed how wonderful it is to have such a great relationship with her now. They are able to communicate easily, talking on the phone frequently. In June 2019, it was confirmed by Us that Nordegren was pregnant with her first child with Cameron. A source mentioned that Elin prefers to keep a low profile and lead a simple life in Florida. She was surprised that people were interested in her pregnancy.

The couple welcomed their son in October 2019 and later legally changed his name from Filip Nordegren Cameron to Arthur Nordegren Cameron in February 2020.
