All adventurers typically start off weak at the beginning of their new journeys, although this is not always the case. However, in Baldur's Gate 3, players have the opportunity to acquire a range of superior weapons that far surpass the basic ones they initially possess, granting them a significant advantage in combat.
In the first act of Baldur's Gate 3, players can access a variety of weapons within the initial area itself. It is not necessary to complete the main scenario or venture into the Underdark in order to obtain any of these exceptional items.
6 Everburn Blade
The Everburn Blade is widely considered the top-tier greatsword for early game. With its proficiency in dealing 2d6 Slashing damage paired with an additional 1d4 Fire Damage upon impact, it proves to be an ideal weapon choice for Barbarians, Fighters, or Paladins.
To acquire this formidable weapon, players must vanquish Commander Zhalk aboard the Nautiloid. However, cunning players may utilize Shadowheart's Command ability to compel Zhalk into relinquishing the sword, allowing for a peaceful acquisition.
5 Sorrow
Choosing to align with the Druids over the Goblins not only grants players the opportunity to obtain Sorrow, a distinctive glaive, but also unlocks the ability to wield Sorrowful Lash, a Transmutation Cantrip that draws targets closer to the wielder. Alternatively, players can acquire this weapon by pilfering the Rune of the Wolf from Rath and infiltrating the vault without rescuing Druid Halsin.
In the early access phase, this glaive inflicted Psychic damage upon the user upon striking enemies and possessed the innate ability of Ensnaring Strike. However, these characteristics have since undergone modifications in the full-release version.
4 Dagger +1
Players can obtain a powerful dagger with superior stats compared to its common counterparts. To acquire this weapon, they need to successfully pass a skill check while examining a piece of roasting meat on an outcrop near the barn in the Blighted Village. This dagger is readily available for players at the beginning of the game, making it a valuable and cost-effective choice.
3 Ritual Dagger
This dagger is a highly captivating weapon that can be obtained exclusively during a limited duration within the Goblin Camp. Venture into the Shattered Sanctum and seek out Abdirak the Torturer, where the dagger awaits on a nearby table.
The Ritual Dagger bestows upon its wielder a bonus of 1d4 to both Attack Rolls and Saving Throws following a successful attack. However, players must pilfer this weapon, as failure to do so promptly will result in its confiscation.
2 Harold
The crossbow provided by Zarys as a reward for assisting in locating their lost shipment is a top-tier ranged weapon in Act One. The shipment can be located within a cave, which is encircled by gnolls along Risen Road.
Any successful hit with Harold has the potential to impose Bane on adversaries. This debilitating effect diminishes their effectiveness and increases vulnerability to spells, rendering this crossbow an exceptional support weapon.
1 Sword of Justice
The Sword of Justice serves as an excellent option for players who were unsuccessful in obtaining the Everburn Blade. Focusing more on defense, it possesses the unique capability of casting Tyr's Protection, thereby augmenting a target's Armor Class by +2.
Obtaining this remarkable greatsword entails assisting or slaying Paladin Anders at the trading post along Risen Road. This particular occurrence aligns with Wyll's mission to vanquish Karlach.
Baldur's Gate 3 is available now on PC with a PS5 version coming soon.
