In the highly anticipated update 4.0 of Genshin Impact, players are introduced to the mesmerizing Fontaine region. This expansive update not only unveils a captivating storyline but also brings forth innovative gameplay mechanics and introduces a host of intriguing characters to the game. Among these fascinating additions is Lyney, who is accompanied by his twin sister Lynette, with their other sibling Freminet set to join in the latter half of the patch. A notable aspect is that Lyney is the exclusive 5-star character featured in this update. Furthermore, as a Pyro DPS character, Lyney's appearance was tantalizingly teased long ago, making him an enticing prospect worth pursuing.

Are Lyney Constellations Worth It In Genshin Impact?

However, with the anticipation of numerous new characters set to join the already expansive roster of Genshin Impact, including many that have been previously hinted at, players are left to consider whether investing in Lyney's constellations is advisable or if it would be wiser to save resources for the upcoming additions. While this ultimately depends on individual preferences, it is essential to take certain factors into account, as some of Lyney's constellations offer more noteworthy benefits than others.

The Ultimate Insider's Guide to Lyney Constellations in Genshin Impact

Lyney, a Pyro DPS character, excels in dealing high damage even without any constellations. His kit strongly favors a mono Pyro composition. However, his constellations greatly enhance his damage output and are highly recommended, especially if players intend to make Lyney their primary Pyro DPS character. Fortunately, most of his constellations scale well and can be obtained early on, similar to Raiden Shogun's constellations. For optimal value, players should aim for his third constellation. While his sixth constellation is also impactful, the fourth and fifth constellations are less prominent, although still decent. Therefore, investing resources in them may not be as worthwhile.

C1 - Whimsical Wonders

Lyney is able to simultaneously possess 2 Grin-Malkin Hats, resulting in an increased effect. Moreover, when utilizing Prop Arrows, Lyney will summon 2 Grin-Malkin Hats and be bestowed with an additional stack of Prop Surplus. This particular effect is only possible every 15 seconds.

Lyney's kit primarily centers around using double-charged attacks to summon Grin-Malkin Hats, which provoke enemies and explode with a damage modifier that scales well, resulting in significant damage. Additionally, these summons can be prematurely detonated by using Lyney's Elemental Skill, causing them to inflict damage while also providing healing to Lyney based on the excess. By unlocking this constellation, Lyney gains the ability to summon two hats simultaneously, increasing his damage output and generating an extra stack of Prop Surplus, which in turn allows for increased healing. The cooldown of this effect aligns smoothly with Lyney's Elemental Skill, making it easier to time during combat rotations. Overall, this constellation greatly enhances Lyney's damage, defense, and healing capabilities.

C2- Locquacious Cajoling

When Lyney is present on the battlefield, he accumulates a stack of Crisp Focus every 2 seconds. This enhances his CRIT DMG by 20%, with a maximum of 3 stacks. However, this effect is nullified once Lyney exits the field.

Importance: Priority

Lyney's second constellation is undoubtedly his most powerful, as it offers a straightforward activation requirement that significantly boosts his damage output. As Lyney is a DPS character who frequently remains on the field, players can rely on him to consistently benefit from an additional 60% Crit Damage. This, combined with his ascension stat of Crit Rate, allows Lyney to attain extraordinary critical hit values, regardless of luck in building his character. It is crucial to note, however, that to maximize the potential of this constellation, players should prioritize forming a team where other characters do not necessitate frequent switching. Each time Lyney is replaced, he will lose the accumulated Crisp Focus stacks and must start anew.

C4 - Well-Versed, Well-Rehearsed

Effect: After an opponent is hit by Lyney's Pyro Charged Attack, this opponent's Pyro RES will be decreased by 20% for 6s.

Lyney's fourth constellation offers the ability to decrease enemies' Pyro RES, which is decent but not as noteworthy as his other constellations. This is because similar effects can be achieved by using characters like Xiangling or Zhongli, or by equipping the Viridescent Venerer artifact set on an Anemo support character. Moreover, since Lyney's Charged Attacks are primarily aimed at single targets, they may not be highly effective in situations with multiple enemies, resulting in limited contribution to the team's damage output. Alternatively, Lyney could choose to focus on switching targets with each charged attack.

C6 - Guarded Smile

Effect: When Lyney fires a Prop Arrow, he will fire a Pyrotechnic Strike: Reprised that will deal 80% of a Pyrotechnic Strike's DMG. This DMG is considered Charged Attack DMG.

Lyney's final constellation enhances his focus on charged attacks. Previously, his summons were primarily responsible for dealing damage, with charged attacks contributing less. Nevertheless, with this constellation, each Double-Charged attack will gain additional damage potential, regardless of whether Grin-Malkin Hats are currently active. Consequently, Lyney's sixth constellation offers a considerable boost in damage potential. However, players who do not favor frequent use of charged attacks may not find this constellation useful according to their preferred playstyle.

Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
