In addition to the numerous story beats in its extensive main campaign, Diablo 4's world is predominantly developed through side quests that intricately depict the surrounding details. Within Sanctuary, its inhabitants are burdened with a multitude of problems, and players have the opportunity to witness the struggle for survival against the hostile Burning Hells.
Within the barren terrains of the Dry Steppes, players in Diablo 4 have the chance to interact with a secluded clan of barbarians entangled in a complex predicament involving their community. The side quest titled "Consumed by Pride" unveils further insight into the challenges these warriors face, serving as a pivotal point that initiates a lengthy and consequential chain of events.
Consumed by Pride Quest Walkthrough
To start, players must head to the Crane Tribe located in the Dry Steppes. The camp can be found along the northern border of the Untamed Scarps region. For a quicker journey, players can teleport to the Onyx Watchtower Waypoint, provided they have already eliminated the bandits from that area.
Upon arrival, players should seek out Ealda situated in the center of the camp. Ealda will inform players about the destructive actions of the nearby cannibal tribes against their own community. Subsequently, they will assign players the task of locating the missing Crane Tribe barbarians within the vast plains.
The quest area is highlighted in blue on the minimap. However, the exact location of the missing tribesmen won't be revealed unless players stumble upon the right spot.
Make your way to the center of the area and ascend the small rocky formation where a worn-out wagon and tent are located. Engage with the deceased individual in that spot, triggering the appearance of two aggressive barbarians. Overcome them and go back to Ealda to share the unfortunate update.
Upon returning to the main settlement of the Crane Tribe, players will witness Ealda engaged in conversation with a cannibalistic barbarian. She dismisses his claims of honor and, filled with anger, forcefully pushes him off the cliff. Talk to Ealda to conclude the quest and receive a generous reward consisting of gold, experience points, a bundle of leather, and Renown XP for the Dry Steppes.
The descendants of Nihlathak, a treacherous elder from the city of Harrogath during the events of Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction, are known as the Crane Tribe. The rest of the barbarian clans have cast them out for their elder's betrayal, and they now face the challenge of survival after the fall of Mount Arreat to Baal and his minions. By successfully finishing Consumed by Pride, the rest of the Fury Against Fate quest chain becomes accessible.
Diablo 4 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
