Fortnite's jungle-themed season, Chapter 4 Season 3, has been ongoing for almost a month now, and it continues to introduce exciting new features for players to explore. Epic Games' battle royale game is renowned for its dynamic nature, constantly evolving to ensure its undeniable success. With the implementation of a Ranked Fortnite system and continuous collaborations with other major franchises, Fortnite remains a popular choice among gamers.
The recent WILDS season of Fortnite has been widely embraced by the player community, receiving praise for its stunningly realistic visuals in the jungle biome. This positive reception indicates that the enthusiasm for this vibrant game is unlikely to wane anytime soon. To keep the excitement alive, Fortnite has recently introduced six intriguing augmentations that can prove invaluable in specific situations.
Fortnite's New Perks Can Be Deadly
Reality Augments in Fortnite are a recent addition to the game, introduced in Chapter 4. There are typically 25 augments available during a match, with a total of around 37 in rotation. These augments can significantly impact a player's gameplay depending on their choices.
One of the new augments is called "Heavy Ammo Acquired," which instantly provides players with heavy ammo. Additionally, more heavy ammo can be found in chests after activating the Reality Augment. While heavy bullets were primarily used with sniper rifles, the Heavy Sniper Rifle has been replaced by the Explosive Repeater Rifle, a weapon that uses heavy ammo and deals explosive damage.
The second Reality Augment introduced in the v25.11 update is called "Heavy Headshots." While it may be mistaken for "Heavy Ammo Acquired" due to its title, this augment actually enhances the damage of headshots for weapons that use heavy ammo, such as the 2019 Flint-Knock pistol. Skilled players with consistent headshot accuracy can wield this augment with deadly precision.
The following augment does not enhance a player's mechanical abilities but still offers great assistance. Known as "Shrub Mud," this augment causes players to be covered in mud while hiding in Big Bushes, Leaf Piles, and Tall Grass. In Fortnite, mud serves as an effective camouflage against enemies equipped with thermal vision. However, some players have raised concerns that "Shrub Mud" encourages excessive camping in bushes, creating a situation where players are less likely to face consequences for their hiding tactics.
The fourth Reality Augment, known as "Thermal Mud," provides players with thermal vision in Fortnite without the need for a thermal DMR. This is especially useful in the WILDS map, where the jungle biomes can sometimes obstruct players' view of others. By selecting "Thermal Mud," players will be covered in mud, allowing them to see heat signatures.
Another augment, called "Splash Party," is a one-time use reward that grants users a few Slap Splashes. These splashes function similarly to the previously removed Chug Splashes from Chapter 4 Season 3. Being within range of these splashes provides players with healing and a speed boost, aiding in necessary map rotations.
The final enhancement, known as "Roaming Redeploy," holds particular intrigue, especially for those prone to frequent falling. Upon dismounting from zip lines, rails, vines, or hop plants, players have the ability to deploy their glider, thereby granting them immunity to fall damage. While this enhancement appears to offer assistance, it may pale in comparison to the existing "Aerialist" enhancement.
This current season of Fortnite shows great promise, offering exciting features such as the ability to ride dinosaurs and the potential for a crossover with The Elder Scrolls Online. The future of this popular battle royale game appears to be filled with potential. As we approach the final two months of Chapter 4 Season 3, players can look forward to ample time for progression and gameplay.
Fortnite is available for Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
