The Gamescom Opening Night Live showcase may not have been the most thrilling gaming event of the year, but it still delivered numerous announcements and updates that brought joy to fans of all genres. One of the standout moments of the entire showcase was the reveal of Cyberpunk 2077's Phantom Liberty DLC. This expansion, set to release in September, showcased exciting gameplay improvements and tweaks.
However, the excitement reached new heights when CD Projekt Red took the stage at Gamescom. They announced that the majority of these new gameplay features would also be available in the base game of Cyberpunk 2077, specifically for current-gen consoles and PC users. This exciting update, known as the 2.0 Update, is set to revamp several gameplay mechanics such as skill trees, vehicle combat, and enemy AI. The best part? It will be available for free to all players on September 26.
Everything Included in Cyberpunk 2077's 2.0 Update
Accompanying the release of the Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty expansion on September 26, Update 2.0 will bring significant improvements to the current gameplay experience. A major overhaul in the 2.0 Update includes the revamped perk and Cyberware system. In the recent trailer for Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, some impressive new perks introduced in Update 2.0 were showcased. These include a perk enabling players to deflect bullets with a sword, a slow-motion air dash, deadeye, and a range of exciting new finishers.
Furthermore, the 2.0 Update for Cyberpunk 2077 introduces a Relic skill tree, as seen in the trailer. Among the new abilities demonstrated, the Limiter Removal Relic empowers players to launch enemies into the air using only their fists. The Spatial Mapping Relic aids in enemy detection and allows fast dashing towards them. Additionally, the Launch Capacity Override allows players to rapidly fire multiple wrist-launcher grenades.
Update 2.0 is expected to include vehicle combat, a major addition to the gameplay of Cyberpunk 2077. Initially, the game did not have any form of vehicle combat, but with this update, players will now have the ability to engage enemies while driving in various ways. They can shoot from the window using a pistol, fire machine guns while performing a spin maneuver similar to 007: No Time to Die, and even hack enemy vehicles to manipulate their speed, braking, or cause them to self-destruct. This new system complements the improved police AI system, resulting in more realistic behavior from the game's law enforcement.
In addition, Cyberpunk 2077's 2.0 Update will introduce over 100 new items, including weapons, clothing, Cyberware, and vehicles. Although it is unclear how much of this content will be available in the base game as part of the update, it is likely that everything mentioned will be included for free. However, certain features such as "dozens of new story quests and gigs," a "dangerous new district," and potentially "endless dynamic events and missions" may be exclusive to the Phantom Liberty expansion. With Update 2.0, CD Projekt Red is making significant strides to improve Cyberpunk 2077, fulfilling the long-awaited expectations of many fans. The fact that the update is just a month away adds to the excitement surrounding its release.
