Dogtown hasn't been very welcoming to V in the Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty campaign. Breaking into the district was just the beginning, as they have accumulated a significant number of casualties. The fourth mission in the campaign, Spider and the Fly, promises even more challenges.
The mission to rescue the President of the New United States of America is far from finished. After the intense battle at the crash site of Air Force One, players will have little time to rest. Spider and the Fly follows directly after the Hole in the Sky quest.
Talk To Songbird
After the victory over Hansen's soldiers in Hole in the Sky, the next task for Spider and the Fly commences. They must first approach Songbird, who will guide V and Myers to their intended destination: Elizabeth Kress Street. Songbird has specifically chosen this location based on its safety, disregarding its appearance as an abandoned and forbidden apartment complex.
As previously noted in Hole in the Sky, this is the final opportunity for players to access this area. Therefore, it is imperative for them to ensure they have gathered any loot from their defeated enemies and visited Myers' secure room to collect ammunition, medical supplies, as well as the NUSA Suit and SOR-22 Rifle.
Lead Myers to Safety
Players will have to navigate through the fire debris in Air Force One to guide President Myers to a closed gate. Both V and Myers will need to work together to open the gate, which will then close behind them. Once the gate closes, there is no turning back. It is important to mention that Myers expresses guilt over the deaths of her staff members, and V can choose from two dialogue options that have a similar effect and do not impact their relationship with the President in future missions in Phantom Liberty.
Follow Myers
As players proceed down the corridor, they will discover numerous ammo crates strategically placed, containing an abundance of Handgun Ammo. While players search for supplies, Myers temporarily sets aside her rifle and becomes disheartened by the situation. However, players have the option to offer her words of encouragement or show kindness. Regardless of their chosen dialogue, Myers will react similarly and then return to retrieve her weapon. Her plans are abruptly disrupted when she realizes she has a subdermal tracker implanted in her neck, enabling the government to monitor her every move.
Upon noticing a shard of glass, Myers requests assistance from V to remove it. Players need not be concerned, as there is no way to mishandle this task. They should swiftly extract the tracker and quickly move to the right, taking cover behind a wall. A drone is actively attempting to locate Myers and V, necessitating caution. If players are detected by the drone, engaging in combat would be ill-advised due to its formidable health and destructive capabilities. Therefore, the priority should be to remain concealed and avoid detection.
Activate And Use The Elevator
Continuing down the corridor, players will come across an elevator that is impervious even to Songbird's hacking abilities. This is because the elevator has lost power. Fortunately, resolving this issue is a simple task. Players can either choose to go through the maintenance shaft on the right or take a left turn, which leads them straight into an arcade room that grants access to the fuse box.
If players decide to go left, they will need a minimum Strength level of 15. Myers, a character in the game, will also take notice of the player character's impressive chrome. Regardless of the chosen direction, there are no noteworthy items to be found. Once the fuse box is activated, players can return to the elevator and use it to reach Level 23's Restaurant area.
Distract The Drone
Upon entering the restaurant, Hansen's drones will be dispatched to search for signs of life. Songbird can hack a nearby access point to distract the drones, while V must handle the necessary manual tasks. To avoid detection, the best approach is to go right, take the stairs, continue to the end of the upper floor, vault over the railing, and hug the wall to reach the room with the access point.
It is advisable for players to complete this task without being detected, as facing off with Hansen's hostile soldiers and drones would not be ideal. Furthermore, V may face criticism from Myers and Songbird. Once Songbird successfully diverts the drones, players can choose to either collect valuable items from the restaurant or leave discreetly with Myers.
Clear the Room of Hostiles
Just outside the restaurant, players will come across approximately 8 Barghest enemies. These enemies are strategically positioned for stealth takedowns, and it is advisable for players to utilize this approach. This is because Myers, on several occasions, tends to take out a guard on her own while V is occupied with eliminating their own guard. The enemy distribution includes 2 guards on the upper level, 2 in the room downstairs to the right, 2 in the central area, and 2 by the vehicle that players intend to steal later.
Eliminating these enemies is advantageous as it eliminates any potential witnesses that could reveal the direction and safety of President Myers. Additionally, it is worth taking them down to minimize unnecessary risks and to scavenge the area for any valuable items that may be present.
Reach The Building
After eliminating the hostiles, players should enter the Barghest car, which was an optional objective. Once inside, players will acquire a 2-star wanted level, indicating that the Barghest guards will initiate a search for V and Myers and react aggressively upon discovering them.
To avoid capture, players should strictly adhere to established roads and well-traveled dirt paths en route to their destination. It is worth mentioning that upon leaving the area and veering to the left, players may encounter a Cyberpsycho named Garry Bates; however, they should prioritize reaching the garage and evading patrols. It is important to note that players cannot access the garage while engaged in combat and must successfully evade their enemies first.
Go Through the Expo
Players can access the Museum of Wishful Thinking on the first floor by taking the elevator located in the parking lot. Within this area, there are locked doors positioned in the upper left and upper right corners of the room. If players possess either 20 Strength or 20 Technical Ability, they can successfully unlock these doors and retrieve the valuable items inside.
Beyond the possible loot, players also have the opportunity to gain further knowledge about Dogtown and the consequences of its downfall. By activating the museum exhibits, Myers will provide informative commentary on the original purpose and structures within Dogtown.
Fight Off Hansen’s Soldiers
After leaving the Expo, players will proceed to the adjacent elevator. However, they will encounter an issue as the elevator cannot be used despite pressing the call button. This occurrence will initiate the next objective. In this objective, Hansen's soldiers will successfully track down V and Myers. Subsequently, they will descend in successive waves to engage in a battle.
The room contains several ammo crates, allowing players to collect additional supplies to enhance their chances of success in the fight. The relentless assaults from the enemy forces will persist until Songbird, the Netrunner, performs her magic and activates the lethal Chimera hidden beneath a protective cover. Players must withstand the attacks from Hansen's soldiers until the Chimera is activated, resulting in the demise of everyone inside.
Flee the Chimera
Songbird has lost control of the powerful Chimera, and it has become uncontrollable. Now targeting V and Myers, they must escape from it. The most effective way to avoid being killed by the Chimera is to run and maneuver between walls and solid objects that can shield V from the bullets. Eventually, players will come across a partially open gate, which they should slide under to continue.
The next objective is to reach the elevator and activate it. However, players must also fend off the relentless attacks from the Chimera while waiting for the elevator to arrive. The safest strategy is to take cover behind solid walls and skillfully avoid the incoming explosive damage and laser beams. Myers will alert the players when the elevator is ready, and they should quickly make their way inside. Unfortunately, only Myers successfully boards the elevator, leaving V to fight off the Chimera using quick time events in order to survive.
Defeat the Chimera
After the intense Quick-Time Events, players must now confront and defeat the Chimera in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty. To gain the upper hand against this enemy, it is essential for players to utilize the large room strategically. Ammo cases and Heavy LMGs can be found in each corner of both the upper and lower floors. If players possess a strength level of 10, they can also remove the Heavy LMGs from their mounts. Furthermore, the Kyubi Power Assault Rifle can be found on the far right of the upper floor.
In order to effectively defeat the Chimera, players should focus on targeting its weak points. These weak spots can be identified by scanning the Chimera or by utilizing the Vulnerability Analytics Relic skill to inflict additional damage. Players can continue to attack the weak points until the Chimera's health reaches 75%. At this stage, all areas of the Chimera become susceptible to damage. However, it is important to quickly eliminate the Repair Drones and Attack Drones that the Chimera summons during this phase.
To effectively combat the Chimera, utilize dashes and jumps to evade its constant fire. Ensure you have reliable healing items and ample ammunition. When the Chimera reaches 50% health, it will release a toxic gas cloud, prompting players to temporarily relocate to the upper floor until the cloud disperses.
Although the Chimera will be defeated at 2% health, it remains a threat. Players have a limited opportunity to leap onto the Chimera and extract its Core, which must be replaced with an activated grenade to completely destroy it, concluding the battle and ultimately ending the Spider and the Fly quest. Afterward, players can take a brief break before moving on to the next mission.
