Discover the latest additions to Pokemon GO with the catchable Sandygast and Palossand Learn how to add them to your collection with these easy-to-follow tips

Pokemon GO has had its fair share of controversy in the past, but that hasn't stopped the mobile game from releasing new content and seasons to keep players engaged. The latest addition is Hidden Gems, a summer-long event that includes a variety of exciting activities for fans to enjoy. Community Day in June is all about Axew, while Shadow Raids now feature Articuno. For those looking for a challenge, the upcoming Research Day Event offers a chance to capture the elusive Roaming Form Gimmighoul.

Hidden Gems also includes a Water Festival event that focuses on Water-type Pokemon, with rare opportunities to catch Mantine and Popplio. Raids bring back the popular trio of Mesprit, Azelf, and Uxie, but they'll be region-specific for the duration of the week-long event. And for those looking to show off their skills, there's a Global Challenge to throw 300 Nice Throws and unlock bonuses such as increased candy for caught Pokemon.

The initial excitement of the Water Festival may be overshadowed by the arrival of Sandygast and Palossand, two Ghost and Ground type Pokemon that have become the main attraction for many Pokemon GO enthusiasts. Luckily, catching them is not a daunting task during this Beach Week event.

How to Catch Sandygast

During Beach Week from June 6 to the 12th, players have a few different ways to find a Sandygast:

To earn the Field Research Task Reward, players are required to catch 25 water-type Pokemon during Beach Week. For those seeking a quick completion, one-star raids are the most viable option as they offer the lowest difficulty level and can be easily tackled solo or with a team that can exploit the weaknesses of the raid boss, which include Dark, Ghost, Grass, Ice, and Water types. Additionally, completing step 2 of the paid Timed Research quest for the Water Festival: Beach Week will grant players a Sandygast.

Either way, Pokemon GO players will want to catch at least one during the event as it is unknown how rare the spawn for Sandygast will be once it comes to an end.

How to Catch Palossand

To transform Sandygast into Palossand, players must obtain 50 Sandygast candies which can be quite challenging due to the limited availability of Sandygast. To make the most of every catch, players should use Pinap berries whenever possible to increase the amount of candy earned.

Pokemon GO is available now for Android and iOS devices as a free download.
