Niantic's continuous addition of new content to Pokemon GO plays a significant role in its enduring popularity. As the Pokemon franchise expands its Pokedex by introducing new creatures, Pokemon GO follows suit by adding them to its roster. Although not every Pokemon has been included in the mobile title, new additions, like Sandygast and Palossand, are being introduced at a much faster pace.
To commemorate Pokemon GO's 7th Anniversary, Niantic is offering players 7 days of in-game bonuses and opportunities to catch Pokemon. From July 6-12, three new starter Pokemon will appear more frequently, and there will be a higher chance of encountering Gen 1 Pokemon, including legendary birds, in raids. Additionally, there will be mega raids featuring Blastoise.
The renewed emphasis on Gen1 Pokemon has sparked fan interest in achieving the elusive Platinum Kanto Medal in Pokemon GO. However, obtaining four of the required creatures, such as Mr. Mime, may prove to be quite a challenge.
How to Get Mr. Mime in Pokemon GO (2023)
Currently, Mr. Mime is among the four region-locked Pokemon, namely Kangaskhan, Tauros, and Farfetch'd. As of now, Kangaskhan can only be found in Australia, Tauros in North America, and Farfetch'd in eastern Asia. Therefore, those who wish to add Mr. Mime to their Pokedex will have to journey to Europe, which can be quite challenging for most individuals.
Rarely, Mr. Mime has been made available in regions outside of Europe through different events. The most recent event was in February 2023, where it could be obtained as a Research Breakthrough Reward. In 2021, Mr. Mime was also added to Raid Battles, became hatchable from eggs in September 2019, and was part of the Safari Zone 2021 Field Research. However, it's important to note that Mr. Mime is not commonly obtained as an event reward, so players of Pokemon GO may have to wait a while before they can acquire it.
For those unable to visit Europe, the only alternative option, aside from special events, is to trade with another player who possesses Mr. Mime. However, it is important to remember that Pokemon GO's trading feature is limited to local interactions, meaning players will need to have someone nearby to initiate this process. Once this prerequisite is fulfilled, players can follow these steps to begin trading within Pokemon GO:
At the map screen, go to the profile screen.
Under Friends, open the Friend List.
Choose the trading partner and simply tap on the Trade button. Remember that trading requires Stardust, and for special trades, players might have to expend a larger amount. Special trades encompass Pokemon or Pokemon Forms that are not yet registered in the players' Pokedex, Legendary Pokemon, Shiny Pokemon, or Ultra Beasts.
