In the past thirty years, the Mortal Kombat franchise has distinguished itself in a highly competitive market by offering players unique features that cannot be found elsewhere. While many fighting games provide a variety of characters and stages, Mortal Kombat stands out with its unprecedented level of brutal and intense action. The upcoming Mortal Kombat 1 continues this tradition, promising to deliver the same level of visceral combat.

One of the defining features of the Mortal Kombat franchise has always been its graphic and violent combat, particularly showcased through its gory Fatalities. These finishing moves occur at the end of a fight, after the player has thoroughly defeated their opponent. In these moments, Mortal Kombat prompts players to "Finish" their rival, and if executed correctly, the player will be treated to a spectacular display of blood and gore, including some of the most violent animations ever seen on screen. Based on the released trailers, it appears that Mortal Kombat 1 may feature a combination of brutal and amusing Fatalities, unlike any seen before in the franchise. Falling under the category of brutality is Johnny Cage's Face Smash finisher, wherein the famous actor forcefully smashes his opponent's face into the ground, causing it to explode and leaving behind only bone fragments and copious amounts of blood. Similarly, Kenshi's Blended Fatality is disturbingly realistic as the blind swordsman employs his psychic abilities to immobilize his foe and compel them to consume his spinning sword.

For those who prefer a more lighthearted ending, Mortal Kombat 1 offers plenty of tongue-in-cheek finishers. One example is Sonya Blade's Kiss Fatality, where she sends a bright pink love heart towards her opponent. Upon contact, the heart sets them on fire, reducing them to ashes.

These finishers, although still gory, add a touch of silliness and fun compared to the ones focused solely on showcasing extreme acts of violence. Additionally, Mortal Kombat 1's new Kameo Fighter system plays a significant role in the game's Fatalities. While some of these characters may not be fully playable, they still have at least one Fatality that players can execute if they fight alongside them.

At the end of the match, players can summon Kano's Kameo Fighter to perform his gruesome Heart Pull Fatality, where he tears the heart out of his opponent's chest, reminiscent of Temple of Doom. Many of these Kameo Fatalities pay homage to previous games, such as Jax's Big Boot Fatality, where he grows into a giant and stomps his opponent into the ground.

Adding to the intensity, Mortal Kombat 1 reintroduces Brutalities, which can be triggered by executing a special combo that depletes the last portion of an opponent's health. In the gameplay footage released, fans can witness Kenshi's Brutality, where he cleanly removes his opponent's head. Furthermore, Mortal Kombat 1 also revives Quitalities, a finisher introduced in Mortal Kombat X, which occurs when an opponent rage-quits from an online match, resulting in their character self-destructing or snapping their own neck.
